  1. #1
Right guys just thought i would post this here because i know some of you are mechanics on here and you dont just know about saxos. I know this is a long shot but i jus wanted to ask on a forum where i know most people before i go elsewhere.

Has anyone got any experience with astras? I need to know how to change the clutch on one. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys!

    what age astra

some you dont have to remove the box out of 1 some you do

its the earlier ones what you dont have to

just remove the a plate on the box then you need to use these clips on the clutch and then undo the clucth and bobs your uncle its off

    also need to disconect cable

best thing todo is buy a haynes

if its the later astra where you cant do that i think you have to drop the subframe not 100% on that though also depends what model/age

    I have pmd him.

Right nice one im sure that the Haynes will have a name for them. Its failed its mot so i think its gonna need a bit of work doing on it!
  24. #24
you going to be selling it on after it has MOT

iv tried looking for a guide to show you what i mean but still nothing wonder if snap on site will have some
  25. #25
Well its my mates dads, they were running it but its failed its mot it needs a new fan belt and the clutch has gone supposedly, and it hasnt passed its mot. So i said i would help him sort it out so he can drive it! He was trying to afford to get a 306 but he cant afford it so i said for free we might aswell have a bash at fixing it!

i am vaux trained and was there for 7 years but Mercedes pay better

as hassel says if it has the plate on the bottom of the bell housing then there quite easy but you will need a second person to push down the clutch to fit the clips on the the pressure plate.
if it doesnt have a plate on the bell housing then you can do it 2 ways, either raise the front of the car and remove the subframe (a pain in the arse as it has all the front suspension attached to it) or a tricky way of doing it is to split the engione and box in place and slide them apart, the downside to this is you will need an engine support bar to go accross the top and you dont get alot of room so will have to replace the clutch by feel as you wont be able to see very much in the box, to be honest if its your 1st clutch i wouldnt recomend trying that way
martinas said above most decent kits will have the clips in the kit
  32. #32
If its the easy type i will have a go myself but if its the one that is going to need messing around with i think i will sack it off!! Cheers for the help mate, i am going to get a haynes and go from there! Ben
