New to forum so HI!!i will be picking up my saxo vtr next week which i am buying,so just ordering a loada goodies for it ready to start work.just wondering how you lot have done your suspension, just bought the springs n kept the standard shocks,or bought a shock and spring setup??also, bumpers have splitters on them smoothed in,so was wondering if i lower it 40mm on 15inch wheels, will it still look nice n low without any of the bumpers hittin on hills,??cheers

40mm on 15's with a 45 profile tyre should be ok mate, just take it easy over speed bumps!

you've not been very specific with what you want and how much you have to spend though!

I would combine Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs. .. if your budget doesn't stretch to them both get the best set of springs you can afford..
I'm going to sound like a stuck record but I rate Eibach

well ive been on ebay and they do 40mm spring/shock kits for about 200quid.only reason im considering shocks this time is because on last car i used only springs and had to replace the shocks all the time, snapped springs etc.so its worth getting the performance shocks too?

if you can stretch to from the budget kits then I would. The quality of the components used in suspension have a massive effect on how well they work.

I would always match up springs and shocks but not everyone has that luxury. I know a lot of customers that have used the Eibach Sportline with standard shocks and not had any problems at all. Obviously if your shocks are already worn then they will give up far quicker.

yes, standard shocks will cope with a 40mm drop, although its recommended that you uprate the shocks aswell!

which kit on ebay were you looking at? you are aware that the rear end doesn't have any springs, its just dampers, as its on a torsion bar!

got a link where i can get these springs from mate??how low do you have yours?

and yes aware that theres no springs on back.just paying alot for this car as only 27thou miles,so when i get it lowered i want it done to high standard.not sure what kit on ebay thers no particular one, just been looking at any of them with a sprnig/shock combination

i think ill go for the same as that then.dont want it really low like, just sitting nicely above the wheels.if i get just the springs i can get the exhaust system then aswell..........but im sure it would be a good idea to get the shocks too, stuck in the middle lol

get the springs now, they'll cost you no more than £60-£70 for a decent pair, then spend the rest of your budget on a SS exhaust system!

    what is your budget btw?

imo id have to disagree about eibach, theyre far to soft, think H&R run slightly more LB front springs and driving is better.

    thats when combining with billies

MAKE SURE that when lowering the torsion bar you get it done properly! (see link below) as alot of garages now a days are using the "splines" method which is wrong and the cowboy way to do it!

CLICK HERE FOR GUIDE ON HOW TO LOWER TORSION BAR PROPERLY

it does depend on the gargae though as to how much they charge to adjust the torsion bar, i've known people pay £180 just to have the torsion bar adjusted

i have eibach pro kit springs on my vtr which has taken it down around 25mm and can hand on heart say these have improved the handling of the car. i rate eibach springs highly.
with you wanting around a 40 mm drop i would go for the eibach sportline springs which lower it 35-40mm. These springs are also highly recommened. as said by kam racing, i would suggest some bilstein dampers with these springs.
