Driver Footwell soaking wet - help needed

  1. #1
    Hi

Can anyone help, my car outside for a couple of hours this morning and got in to a footwell full of water.

This is not the first time.

A couple of months ago the same thing happened and we guessed it was the outside rim seal??? my hubbie sealed it all across and its been fine since.

He has just taken apart the plastic trim inside the bonnet that should be bonded to the windscreen and doesn't think its getting in there.

There are no obvious signs in the car where the water gets in.

    Anybody any ideas

    Thanks

    Debi

This has been covered a shed load of times.. use the search function..

Its seems its either your sunroof leaking or your heater matrix..use the search function for a definate amswer.

Went thru car wash, but no signs

Hubbie removed wheel, and cover, couldn't find where it leaks in, so he sealed windscreen and door seals again.

Still no idea where leak comes from?

my passager side is leaking the hose is blocked and air pressure wont unblock it!!!

Don't take the pipe out mate you'll never get it back in again, pull the headlining down and pull the pipe off the sunroof drainage holes, and use some reasonably thick welding wire to push down the pipes. Need doing every now and then as they get blocked easily.

hahah i had this problem. though it were cause the inner mirror cover wasn't allowing the door rubber to seal right.

    i were wrong.

i then took the carpet out and got my brother to sit in the car while i poured water over the windscreen and sunroof.

while pouring over windscreen no leaks.

poured over sun roof started to leak down drivers 'a' pillar.

so i thought the pipe could be split. so took headlinging off and poured some water down the pipe. nothing.

so a little confused i set about putting the headlinging back up.
while putting the rear grab handles it started to lag it down with rain.
    lo and be hold leak.

took a quick look and it were coming through the windscreen half way down.

so once it stopped raining i pulled the rubber seal off around windscreen, used some tissue to dry it off and tiger sealed down the whole side of the windscreen (both sides) and slightley round the top.

put it all back in and left it to set.

    next day.

went to continue putting headlining back in, once again rain. along with a big leak from the top of the windscreen.

once it stopped raining i pushed the rubber up as far as it would go (cause of the tiger seal were stuck down the sides)

i got the tiger seal out again and did all across the top.

now no leaks. on mine the bonding is failing causing the leak. so i can see in the near future the screen developing a crack

remove the front of the carpet, and peel it back a bit, theres a black panel behind the pedals, theres a plastic cover that can either have came off or broke, thus letting water in when you go over a puddle or water, i sealed mines down and all is fine but still get the odd condensation.

what is the easiest way to get to the sunroof drain pipes. Girlfriends Saxo has a damb passenger foot well at the moment.

Have noticed the head linning is slightly damb when it rains at the very front center (suspect ariel seal gone) and also noticed a small damp bit on the passenger A pillar.

Would like to check everything in one go rather than going to it then back to it etc :-)
