Lowering...but how much

I want to lower my saxo Vtr but think im gonna have to do something about the arches. I've already got 17in kahn rims and then running pretty close to the arches and they already rub when put on full lock, might need to put some spacers in there. Anyone lowered their saxo with 17in rims on it.

What sort of price is it to get the arches sorted so I can lower it 40mm, dont have a clue about the price.

    Tyres: 17/205/40

I have got mine lowered 40mm all round with 205/40/17s i used 15mm spacers on the front and 20mm spacers on the back and all i had to do was to cut off the bracket off the rear bumper and make a new one ferther in towards the middle its dead easy to do.Mine dose still rub on full lock.Make sure you buy longer bolts if you are going to use spacers over 5mm as the standard ones are to short.Hope this helps

Cheers mate have you got a full kit or just the springs and would this effect anything with which one I got. Whats it like if you've got people in the back. Did you not have to do anything to the front because the space from the top of the wheel and the arch is really tight already. How tight was yours before you lowered and how close is it now.

    depends what you want

    40mm - handling
    50mm - looks and handling
60mm or more - looks, bit of handling (better than standard anyway)

mine down 60mm front 40mm rear (adjusted for install)

I'm thinking no more than 40mm all round otherwise the works gonna be too much on the arches. I think its gonna be too much any way with the 17in rims. Do you think it it should be lower at the back

yeah about 40 if your going for 17s id say, you will still get a bit of rubbing though

yea thats wot i thought. i rele dont want it rubbing though. what do you suggest to avoid rubbing?

well its not that hard of a jub to stop them rubbing mate a bit of grinding here and there, have a look in the FAQs and guides am sure theres something in there about fitting bigger wheels once lowered

rubbing will be a bugger to sort, you will need to chop the rear bumper bracket and attack the arches etc...
