#2what other mods are you planning. bhp you want? going to stay NA? pass mot easily etc......
kent, piper, catcam, newmans -
#3No other serious mods, little things bmc induction, maybe a sports cat things like that, well yeah i would lik it to pass the mot quite easily. BHP is my main plan yeah?

#4the more power you want the more 'lairy' a cam you use, this produces more power and usually higher emissions, therefore making it harder to pass an mot, as your not going to run throttle bodies are something like that you will not want a huge race spec cam for instance. just a fast road cam

#5also the lairier the cams its more than likely that you might need stand alone engine management because you standard ECU wont be able to cope with the cams.
Also you will prob need a vernier pully (a cam pully that allows you to adjust the timing in small amounts ie not just one notch round) which will add to the cost.
Have you thought about a 16v conversion? To cam and re map the vtr your looking at 500-600 pounds to get around 120 bhp. Or spend 500 on a tidy vts engine and get 120 with the potential for 160 with cams. -
#6Well thats it, ive been looking around but havent really been able to find any 16v ie vts/ gti engines, wheres the best place to look, there is ebay but im never sure of half f the suff on there.Quote:also the lairier the cams its more than likely that you might need stand alone engine management because you standard ECU wont be able to cope with the cams.
