#2will fit yes.. will it work without alot of setting up.. i dont know..
The VTs head will fit iirc.. -
#3I think it does fit straight on.. at least from memory the oil / water routes all match up.
Getting it to run is another matter entirely. -

#5i think they will fit.. same bottom end iirc..
-
#7I dont know..alot of work to get running i expect..
-
#9mapping etc..for twin cam and stuff.. its just what i have heard!
-
#10mapping? thats controlled by the ecu. so if the bottom end is the same then it wont matter, as sensors will be the same, you use 16v or standalone ecu.Quote:mapping etc..for twin cam and stuff.. its just what i have heard!

its a shame my mate got rid of his 8v bottom end as ive got a spare 16v here to compair.
i just feel if its the same, then you could cross mix bottom ends and heads easily.
ive yet to see a 16v head on 8v bottom end though.
its a shame the old ssc forum got wiped as i remeber there being a few good debates -
#11Hmm, yeah..
Its possible i expect.. but whether its direct fit i dont know..
VTR one would fit though.. oh well cit do a 1.4 16v now, that would be a good little engine i rekon..

#12The inlet of a 1.4 SPI will not fit any of the VTR heads. The late model VTR heads will not fit the inlet off any other TU. All the VTR head have a different volume to any of the 1.4 heads fitted to the Saxo. Also the cam bearing size is different on some of them.

#13so are you saying that the 8 valve 1.6 vtr head will simply fit straight on the 1.4 8 valve block with no problems? and would it run well because the vtr has bigger valves, but would it need to be remaped? and would the clearance between the pistons and valves be safe running on the same cam gearing?

#14The simple answer is no. it will not fit.
The complicated answer is it will physically bolt to the block but depending on your head there is a good possibility that most of your other parts will not fit. So it will not work. some even have different size cam bearings. It really depends on what 1.6 and what 1.4 you are tying to swap parts with.
