Although I havent done this I have seen a saxo that had.

My parnter had pointed it out as she noticed it was like mine but couldnt put here finger on what was different.

On closer inspection the dimma grill had been smoothed in which looks amazing but like we both pointed out cracks where begining to show and once it cracks you've had it.

You could get away with it by just lightly closing the bonnet every time but its still gona be put under stress on normal driving conditions more so if your running very firm suspension

thats what i was thinking. i was planning on having it done because it looks quality, but for the price is it really worth doing??

A lad on here used to have it done, when i had my bodykit on my car (insert lol here) i was going to have this done. He explained that it would need re-doing on average every 6 months.. so if your willing to pay the bill every now and again go for it. It looks great but i couldent be bothered with the hassle personally..

It would be cheaper in the long run to have a body shop facricate a metal version of the dimma and weld it in, then fibreglass and fill. Would be less prone to cracking.

When I had my bonnet smoothed he said I could have any shape cut into the smooth bonnet. I was thinking of having some chevrons cut in where the induction hole was. If this can be done then surely a smooth dimma style cut could be made???

    6months thats just silly

Personally Id either fit a standard Dimma grill and leave it as it is or have the bonnet totally smoothed removing the opening completely like saxo180 did before getting rid of the bonnet.

It looks good on a show car having the dimma smoothed in but on a road car its just not pratical

do as cloud said have a diamma grill made out of metal and welded to the bonnet

Having the dimma mage out of metal could be as expensive as having the plastic one smooted in.

Still think the best options are either:

    Dimma or Smoothed
