how can i get more power from my vtr mk1?

have just got a k&n 57i on at moment.

how much extra bhp does this give (if any), and also what sort of things engine wise can i do and what extra bhp will they give?

    cheers guys

decreases! ditch that and standard intake with panel filter!

or if got spare cash go for an enclosed bmc

never going to see big boy bhp with just exhaust etc to be honest!

could get manifold 4-2-1, full cat back system and de-cat pipe should make it run a bit better

depends on budget and how far your willing to take it tbh

well obviously have got a budget but i will probs go way over that.

    what's an enclosed bmc like?

am intending to quite far with the mods, but realistically what bhp do you reckon i could get it too with your mentioned mods mainfold etc?

fanny, full decated system and enclosed- around 10 give or take

with manifold, cat-back, de-cat, decent intake i rekon 5 or so, car should rev a lot more freely though

shedding weight is the best mod and free

then you have cams, remap etc whichs alot more money.. but imo better off fitting vts more power:money ratio! lol

but if go the full wack bar turbo/supercharging should be seeing standard vts teritory!

just use the forced induction approach if you want loads power

    whats your budget?

as said above sort out your breathing mods; get rid of the k&n and get an enclosed induction kit, full system/decat, and a manifold. then depending on your budget you are looking at a cam and mapping.
Alot of people wiil tell you not to bother with a cam etc and to just put a vts engine in, but you still have the 'legalities' of doing this, (you may have bought the vtr because you could not afford to insure a vts, so putting a vts lump may not be an option)

Again as said above cheap ways to improve acceleration would be to lose as much weight as possible, stripping out the interior back seats, passenger seat carpets etc etc (obviously depends on how practical you want the car to be)

Another area to improve could also be your tyres, clutch, and possibly putting a different gear box in.

The common mods to get are full exhaust system & decat, enclosed air filter, manifold, cam & remap and this should see you to about 120bhp or there abouts. My honest opinon is buy a vts and mod that.

do what they ahev all said bascially but if you can afford to insure a bigger car then i would consider that an option mate

but its your choice at the end of the day

Spend some proper money on the engine mods or don't bother at all.

Good advice, do your homework on every item before parting with your cash is good advice.

To be honest you probally Wouldnt see any gain by going back to a factory airbox and uprated panel filter as the panel filter from K&N/Green/Pipercross/BMC are purely to give better filtration of dirt, Ive read a rolling road test and saw no gain with a K&N panel filter.

Look on www.kam-racing.com and enquire about a Enclosed scoop filter and 4-2-1 manifold. Your see a noticable gain from these two items

yeah i bought a vtr because a vts was out of my range at the time being only 18 and 0 ncb, but i reckon ive got about a grand to go and do the power mods so will be enquiring about the mentioned above. cheers guys!
