Engine Mounts UPDATED #23!

  1. #1
Basically, I'm beginning to think its one or more of these.
The car tends to rock slightly on tickover, and can be quite heavy if i'm fast on the clutch or pulling away, like its throwing its weight about a bit!
And its causing some knocking from the shafts on turning...
Pretty sure its something loose somewhere, basically i think its the engine mounts...

Not sure which one though, which ones are common, how much, and where from?!
Wouldn't mind some uprated ones if possible!
    Thanks
    David

Replace them all with uprated ones

a full set of group N mount (hard rubber) will vibrate you dash.

a full set of group A mounts (metal) will require seem welding in the engine bay to make it strong enough to deal with the forces.

If you get just a lower/gearbox mount with eithert a group N or a powerflex one should stop the movement of the engine.

GMC do the group N mount, i think they also do ones already pressed into the mount.

Power flex ones are avaliable in loads of places and are dead easy to press into the mount just getting the old one out is a bastard sometimes.

    Hope this helps.

if replacing order groupN ones from pugsport boutique in france.

rocking usually means the lower one is more fucked as this stops the rocking more than anything

Do any of the group N mounts require welding?

    no shouldnt do.

its only the groupA kit that has rose jointed lower mount that nees welding to the shell!

    Any idea on prices guys?
Will do the lower first, need it not to rock asap...
Pretty sure its that to be fair...
What do you mean by them being pressed into the mount?
I thought the lower one just unbolted and a new one went on, or is it more than that?
    Cheers

  17. #17
it wont be the metal bracket. you will need to remove yours, get your mount removed and this put in intead of the old rubbaaaa
  18. #18

Well i have a spare mount, Both ends, so i suppose i could use that...

The Top left engine mount also has a fair bit of movement, where can i get one of these from and how much?
Whats it called too, don't wanna order the wrong one!
The only one that seems any good is the top gearbox mount, and it won't be for long if the others are buggered!
Drove it slowly earlier, and it drives awfully, definately something rather heavy moving about.. ie engine lol...

    Cheers

    Problem though...
On Tickover doesn't the steering wheel ever shake?!
I have a std Top left mount and a powerflex stabiliser one.

Also i still have knocking noises on corners / sometimes on the straight...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
