now before everyone posts "scroll through older threads"

this is a new one ive gone through most and cant find this one

the gmc 4-1 mild steel manfold VS raceland 4-2-1 s/s

its going on a phase two 98hp vtr

im after up to 100 street "nippy ness" and the odd track day sort of power ??

    your opinions please lads

I have a gmc 4-1 on my vts.

The gmc 4-1 will rust alot quicker as its only mild steel.
It will give more power top end as its 4-1.

The raceland as its so cheap im not sure how long it will last but it is s/s so should stay looking pretty for a good while.
It will give even power through out the rev range as its 4-2-1.

As you have a vtr id would want more power top end as they die out where the vts is still going...

Tough one though as its only mild steel....

Hmmmm id get the raceland, i think i will when mine needs changing anyway, as it came with the car im not sure how old it is!?

the only thing is i no it sounds stupid because its obvuosly there product but on the gmc website they reakon its better because its mild and gives more power gains than a 4-2-1 even at low end ???, ive always fitted and beleived in stainless steel to be honest over mild

ive just heard such good things about the gmc and wondered if people who had them rated them over the 4-2-1 ss's ones

anyone no if they do s/s couldnt find it on the site ?

I know their site doesnt get updated much so best bet is to phone.

I havent had a stainless so cant realy help.

The gmc is much more than the raceland though.

im after getting the most out of my car so not trying to sound stuck up but im after the best regardless of cost (Y) thanks for your help anyway m8

    The gmc it is then.

4-1 is what YOU need as its a vtr not vts.

noone else have any opinions the more the better

think i might look at a 4-1 raceland or supersprint becuase the gmc being mild is a massive put off

raceland all the way, i had one on my gti and a noticeable gain was achieved and sound, looks everything was perfect, and as mild steel rusts in most cases from inside out one corrosion has started the flow will be interrupted, hard to explain but think about it if the inside of the pipe is not smooth like stainless,

    GMC all the way

dont have to move the oil filter, fits like a dream and gives good gains

    well worth every penny

best mod on my car by far

I went with the raceland, there was a noticeable difference in the sound of the car and it also picked up from standstill a lot better, as for top end power its not very often I test it but i havent noticed any distinct loss

Edit: After reading hessle I agree it would be less hassle for you to get the gmc as you dont have to move it oil filter as yours is a 98BHP.

you dont have to have the oil filter with the gmc but you do with the raceland ??

somone please explain because i thought you had to move it with any aftermarket manifold ?

get a Raceland 4-2-1 and heat wrap it up, might not look nice but will keep the temperature down

i wouldnt even entertain not heat wrapping a s/s manifold

i think im going to go for the 4-1 s/s gmc manifold think itll suit the omp class n system well

    thanks guys.
