how loud is your vtr???

    i know its a random and seeminglt chavvy question but i'm about to drop a 2k1 vtr engine in my rallye and i'm worried about how its going to sound. my rallye sounds just like a rally car with pop bangs and the works. however my mates car has the same engine i'm fitting and the exhaust should in theory be about the same. although they are slightly diferent but still both magnex pugsports. his car is really really quiet in comparison and sounds prety shit. are vtrs quite quiet normally or must his exhaust have more silencing? help

    the Rallye engine and VTR engine are identical i thought?
    perhaps he has extra silencers?

    magnex ehxausts are generally quiet anyway, but depends on how many silencers you have, and wether its been decatted or not! i have a straight through powerflow on mine and sounds beautiful, and pops like a mofo when down gearing!

    rallye engine and early vtr are similar but with different heads cam etc.

    we both have the same amount of silencers and both are decatted. magnex pugsports were failing noise tests for been too loud which is why production wa smoved to scorpian. ah well, will just have to wait and see i suppose

    Well i have a piper full system and get pops off the limiter, on standard manifold with cat in it!

    The magnex pug sports are far from quite. They used to fail some noise regs hence why there now made by scorpion. Which are also loud at certain rev's I got rid of mine for that very reason.

    Cant help on engine noise i'm afraide. VTR engine's dont make as much power as rallye engine's but I cant imagine there being much difference in noise?

    What induction setup do the two cars have? Are both cars exhausts seeled properly and are in good condition?

    With no exhaust all inline 4cyclinder engine wouls sound pretty much the same.

    Its only really the exhaust systems thats changes a engines note.

    A V8 sounds like a V8, a Flat4 sounds like Flat4 - You might be worth having a custom exhaust built as you swapping engines as some of the pipework maynot line up correctly near the front.

    both exhausts are fine no damage, both cars are as quick but his gains slightly at the bottom end of the top end scale if that makes sense but mine may be a bit quicker top end.

    he has an open metal induction kit and i'm running a bmc. knowing my luck it'll sound like shit lol

    mine is quite loud and pops and bangs like rally car i have a 2000 plate vtr with magnex system with no middle box or cat

    Very loud, 4-2-1 manifold, straight through pipe, no silecencers and it sort of rumbles in lower revs and gets raspy just past 2250rpm.

    hmmmmmm. all seems odd. may just lob my exhaust on me mates car once mines on axle stands lol
