performance downpipe?

   We have been asked by a customer whether we can get an aftermarket downpipe for the 106 8v tu engine. He races in stock hatch so cannot change the manifold itself but wants to upgrade the rest of the system. Anyone heard of one as we haven't!

   not heard of one, although remember, a guy who raced a few years ago having the same problem.
   
   he used a downpipe off of a 206 or something irc.

   Peugeot Sport and Citroen Sport use to sell some interesting down pipes for these engine. I know AXnutty on the AX owners club has a interesting setup off a old factory prepped car.

   i thought the downpipe was the bottom part of the manifold and obviously if he cant change the manifold i dont think there is a product out there for him

   you can change the down pipe, not the top half of the manifold though.

   but the only advantage would be it would be a bit lighter, wouldnt it? im sure a custom exhaust place could make him one up

   nope not just weight, different bore sizes can create different characteristics of the engine remeber.
   
   there wil probably be a relation to the pulses that may get changed depending opn the downpipe used

   i knew someone who had the late type vtr engine, and he didnt want the cat in the downpipe so the main reason for the DP change was to remove the cat.

    well after looking at the downpipe on mine the other day there is defo room for improvement... not sure on the other models.

    but this customer of kams obviously cant change the top due to restrictions, where as if it was someone wanting to up grade they would just buy a performance manifold

    who mentioned the top of the manifold?

    Kam asked about the DOWNPIPE though.
    
    and i have known of someone who has changed the downpipe to that from another Pug/cit car.

    yes u can get different 1s as i have a ashley downpipe i bought the whole system off a m8 of mines who races in stock hatch! there is also another 1 which he has got which is simlar to the VTS 1 but u are talking 500+ for them and they are really rare! he got it off his m8 of his who races in the hot hatch

    can you ask your friend for details? Brand and maybe where it was bought from?
