guys; dunno if ud be able to help me with this one...

usually i only put a tenner of fuel in the car at a time, which give me about 80 or so miles, driving normally. Just recently ive bin a little skint, and have so been putting a fiver in at a time, but the car just seems to be drinking it so much faster, lasting around 30 miles and ive been driving like a grandad.

Has anyone else found this, or is it just me being stupid and poor ??

Also, is there anything a i can do to increase fuel consumption. A mate said something about a better air filter?????????

    any advice would be cool

i find i get better economy off a full tank rather than small additions, dont know why lol! prob to do with how the pumps work.

nah just the fact the first half goes down slower than the bottom half. i got about 250 from first half then about 160 or so from second half. funny half....

nothing to do with the speed of which it goes down on the guage lol!

    as i said economy!

so ill get say 300+ miles on a full tank but only 60miles on a tenner. so its not in direct proportion as mpg to a full tank.

and thats an example not what i really get

my furio drank 2 much petrol... got about 60 miles on £10 worth drivin like a granny.
my vts uses less fuel than my furio did :s

when people say 'I drive like a granny...'
how do you/they mean? drive slow? use low rpm? randomly crash into kerbs?

i get a little over 320miles per tank and the light comes on, but i have a sneaky suspicion the light's coming on too early, thats driving normally/thrashing it now and again. that averages about... 33mpg or so

my furio all of a sudden started guzzling. i went to a garage and the lambda sensor was faulty. got that changed and it is now back to normal. you might want to get it checked out.

Worked it out, i apparently get 39.4 on my Furio.
£39 from the light @ 94.9 a litre, covering 310 / 320 miles till the light comes back on.
Not bad really, sometimes i rag it, others i drive slow.
This week i've used about 3p worth of petrol, bloody engine mounts gone... lol

Does anyone know if a Dodgy Catalytic converter would cause poor fuel consumption?. My car has 119k on the clock and the Cat is buggered and wornout, I have bought a new one and about to fit it, but can a dodgy old cat give poor fuel consumption?

    Reply's appreciated.

Theoretically the fuel consumption depends on varies facts: lambda sensor malfunction, sparkplugs, coolant temperature sensor, etc… One thing that varies the fuel consumption also is the type of drive that we make. There is no problem in going fast, the problem depends on how we press the throttle pedal. If the throttle pedal is pressed slowly instead of a quick WOT, the fuel consumption will decreases significantly. Other thing that will decreases the fuel consumption is the RPM that you change gear. The ideal RPM is where the torque reaches is maximum.
