i picked up my vts yesterday and it looks like it is on stilts and feels like it to. i am going to be lowering it myself and a mate.

Wanted to know how low to go? (for best handling)

Lowering the rear torsion bar what is the best way to tell if u have lowered it the correct mm?

Is the back of the saxo supose to sit slightly higher then the front?

so if i lower the car should i do it so the rear sits up more then the front?

    drop it 40mm all around.
back will be higher than the front.
    this is a good thing.

    If you lower it "properly"
you can measure the amount you are lowering it by.

If you do it by splines, one notch is around 40mm however people on this site will advise you not to do it by splines.

Find a lowering Torsion bar guide.
    All will be explained there.
Sure if you look through the Search function youll find a guide.

Right the best for handling and looks is anywhere between 30mm - 40mm

Measure from the arch to the tyre to work out how its gona look but to be honest your best off letting a garage sort the back out.

This was mine on 15' S rims and 35mm Pi suspension with the back matched, still sits abit heigh at the rear but thats becuase mines stripped out, a normal car should sit more level.

With somewhere between 35mm-40mm I catch my lower strut brace so be warned, but better that than my manifold

    Before

    After

Heres some pic's after it had settled down fronts more like 40mm to be honest

Id strongly recommend poly bushes all round to firm everything up and a Lower OMP strut brace, Ive got a top as well but its the bottom that does all the work I reckon

Go for a Full kit (mines Pi and not brilliant but it does the job) Poly bushes and Lower brace for the win

I went full hog and bought a Group A 106 Anti Roll Bar as well but thats abit ott and was a fortune, with decent shocks and springs I reckon mine would really hold its own on a track.

Im now down on 14's and it sits spot on

    That lower brace...
do you not find it catches on things all the time?

Well, before I had my car lowered Id catch my Janspeed centre box on very large bumps so I removed it.

When I found out that where I had catched my centre box a few times had cracked my Janspeed 4-2-1 manifold I changed it to a Piper 4-1 now on bumps that I cleared with my Janspeed manifold I caught with my Piper!

Now Im lowered and have the Lower strut brace I do fine I have caught a thing of two and also I almost beached myself at Leed castle when I dropped down into a rut mad by cars in the carpark which was a field

I thought it was funny, missis was abit worried tho

So yes I do but not as much as you might think, as Im only down between 35mm - 40mm, Id hate to have 50mm+ as that would be silly I reckon

i might avoid a lower brace for the problems it gives. im not hardcore enough anyways.

    heheheheh

Id say if you was between 25mm - 35mm it would be fine any lower and its possible your going to catch it on things.

Like Kam-Racing have mentioned in the past, Its all a case of yes it WILL improve the handling of the car but most people neither have good enough suspension setup and tyres not to mention driver tallent to take advantage of the improvements that braces give.

The only really pay off when you are really pushing the car to its limits but its nice to know its there when and if I ever want to push it further than I normally would
