    Hi Guys

looking for some help with regards to tunning. i have a saxo with a 106 gti conversion under the hood which goes well when it wants to. the enging is sweet as a nut, but sometimes has what i think is a missfire and can cut out when stopped. i'm looking to take it somewhere for testing, can anyone reconmend a good tunning garage in or around plymouth, as i hear severel mixed reviews about the ones here???? or can anyone suggest something to try????

if it cuts out on idle.
could well be your idle control valve.

Problems and queries i believe this comes under though...

Have a look inthe regional section and under South West, join, and put the same question to the members in that area.

The should have the best knowlage of the SW are and will hopefully be able to point you in the right direction

Make sure all the ECU plugs and sensor plugs are clean and fully pluged in, WD40 will help clear any damp. Check all the Coil pack and plugs as well to start off with and like Soulless mentioned check the ideal control vavle.

Did you service the engine before fitting it? if not do a full service - oil, filters and plugs just to be on the safe side.

thanks for your help there guys

i'm not sure about what bits have been done as the conversion was done before i brought the car. i have ordered a full sevice kit to see if this helps.

may sound funny but where can i find the value you mentioned???

    cheers

Not overally sure, but one of the others will know.

If the conversion wasnt done by you like you mentioned then get the car to a garage and have it put on the computer to see whats wrong.

May save hours of running round checking plugs etc.

Still do your service regardless the garage will also be able to reset you service clock

Has it got a fuel return plumbed in?

If it has not, your fueling will be off. There will be no fuel back pressure and the fpr on the tank should be 3.5bar and the one on the fuel rail 3bar. This means there is 0.5 of pressure building up in the return line (blocked off) and therefore no relief pressure or back pressure in the lines. Thus cutting out.

Would that show up on a diagnostic?

hmmm. Im not sure to be honest. It might send readings from the ECU but if it fuel pressure thats crap then its a mechanical thing rather than electric.
