To Dimma or not to Dimma

  1. #1
Im thinking of getting myself this but im not sure

I really like the look of the Dimma 106s. i know someone that would do the bodywork

I have emailed them to see if its the genuine kit or will it be a replica which will be shite

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tchlink:top:uk

I would keep the car silver the way it is and obviosuly bigger rims and spacers

Im seriosu about this as i have a biggish amount of money to spend on the car as im keeping it for a good while
    Any advice would be great

Also I am NOT a virgin if this helps

    Thanks

you need to work out how you are going to sort the front and rear suspension for the additional width as thats a large additional cost.

This is the bits i never knew mate i thought it would be the case of bodyshop and smooth the kit ect and theg ass spacers and there we have it.....

What would need to be done

    Thanks

well spacers would be ok for the rear but i'd get them to effectively space out the stub axle and hubs rather than the wheels as this will stop any extra strain on bearings. For the front it gets a little more expensive. Spacers will really upset the suspension geometry so i would look at some custom tubular wishbones and possibly altering the hubs to keep the strut angle the same. Still it can be done a lot cheaper than buying maxi parts!

Like you said Connor, I assumed it was just fit the wider arched, use wide spacers ontop of wide wheels.

So you acutaly have to widen the track of the suspension, howd you do that?

    hehehehehe Buy Maxi Parts

Whos got the money to build a road going rally car?

I did see a Dimma (I think) wide arched 306 with TVR Tuscan wheels on it and thats was crazy

Cant even begin to imagin the cost of such a conversion

I have enough trouble building a ropey VTS let alone a Maxi!!!!!

didnt think there was much more to doing the kit than smoothing and spacers.

it does look wicked though and would be well worth it imo. not thought of putting a 16v in first?

Yea I know what you mean as I would need to get the whole car sprayed to freshen it up

I think it will be worth it if I go through with it but i will look into it more

I know someone who has over 20years of bodywork experience who did all my other cars so he would do it mates rates :-)

Because if its a half assed job it will look utter bollocks

He says they are a replica kit and made better than the Dimma ones and have a closer fit

When he said better than Dimma it got me thinking a bit as i have never heard of any complaints from Dimma

I checked alot of his feedback last night an a few of the bumpers he has done have had negative comments..ill fitting ect

He said his son has a 106 with his kit on it so that would be good also i will drive down so i can kinda see it againts the car(dont think that would make a difference tho) as the kit is so huge
