best exhaust for vtr

i have got a standard exhaust at the moment but after my mot a few months ago i was told i will need a new 1 soon, so that got me thinking i may as well get a decent exhaust!

i dont want it to be loud, but i want to be able to here it when i put my foot down.

i like the look of the round magnex exhausts but i dont know if i am keen on the way you can see the box hanging down if u get what i mean!?!?!?

if someone could recomend a few it would be great!!

Magnex's are very quite at low rpm revs and make a nice subtle tone when you put your foot down. you could go for a piper which are louder than a magnex at low rpm, and louder again at higher rpm. both are regarded about as good as each other, when it comes to chosing one its comes down to peoples preferance. with a piper you can get the choice of these tail pipes :

    3.5" inwardly rolled
    3" inwardly rolled
    3.5" outwardly rolled
    3" outwardly rolled
    4" slash cut
    and an Oval

I have a full magnex system on my vtr and really like it, i love the look of it and the tone. personally i recomend these, but piper are equally as good.

You can not see any of the back box really with these piper choices, where as the magnex you can, so its really down to your taste. have a search on here for some sound clips of both.

If your looking for a off the shelf sports exhaust that isnt too loud then I would go for either the Magnex or Janspeed - I had a Janspeed before I went custom and it was quite quiet, bit to quiet for my liking but I think it was on par with Magnex.

Personal I dont like the way the Magnex fits, in the pictures below you can see the siliencer is quite bit and hangs down and there is alot on of the can on show

Compare that with this picture of my S with a full Janspeed system which didnt suffer from the same problem

But thats just my personal taste, just for the record tho my Janspeed was a Mild Steel item but I imagin they only changed the materials over to Stainless Steel and didnt change the design as you cant get the Mild Steel item anymore.

I wouldnt go for Piper/Mongoose/Scorpion as they are abit louder but these do give a nice note.

My Scorpion cat back system fitted to my VTR is'nt as loud as the same system fitted to a VTS in my opinion, and a mate agrees with me too as he has a Scorpion system fitted to his MK 1 VTS.

Like I was saying to somebody else, most if not everybody I speak to with the Magnex system is more than hapy with the gains it offered on a standard to mildly tuned engine.

If I was to have a Magnex system I think Id go for the ABP motorsport system that offers a single box setup basically a straight through centre section.

Also worth pointing out somepeople have their centre section or back box pipework trim'd as the tailpipes do tend to stick out alittle to far, simple mod to sort out.
