Replacing the protective sticker on the door?

  1. #1
    Hey all

I'm not really sure how to describe this so lets try a pic:

    FYI '99 Mark1 Saxo VTS

The sticker is wrinkling and has split in one place.

Can this be removed without damage to the paintwork underneath? If so what is the best way to achieve this?

Can this be replaced with a new sticker? Do citroen supply?

    Many thanks

    Stephen

just peel it off and use some autoglym tar and glue remover to get the glue off

you can buy them on ebay as said too

yeah either replace from ebay as said above or can leave it as the paint is usally good underneath and does look good in the black without b pillar sicker

i replaced mine twice but everytime the sun heats the car it creases again, i just used window cleaner to get all the sticky stuff off and left them like that, IMO looks much better
  6. #6
yea, defo take it off, would look much better if you ask me!

I had 3 sets of stickers on and they all went the same way so i got hold of a set of Pro-Comp carbon door pillar covers which look quite trick.

I recently fitted some i brought off ebay. Word of warning though when applying the new ones try stay clear of the instructions that come with it. It says to use like a soapy liquid while applying but i wouldnt becuase the amount of bubbles you will get and difficulty placing them on isnt worth the effort. Id just use some carefull and boring concentration.

Buy some from citroen! no bullshit then, they just stick on!
  11. #11
Mine were doing exactky the same, just peel off and then wipe off the excess with glue remover. I just polished what was underneath afterwards and left it as that, looks better without them I think.

so underneath them is painted the same colour as the car or black?

just double checkin befor i decided to rip mine off or not!
  13. #13
I say peal it off mate and leave it without! Looks much nicer!
  14. #14
yeah they look gash, take them off
  15. #15
that has happened to mine...saved me making a new thread think ill just remove mine altogether now
  16. #16
i have the exact same problem mate, seems pretty common!!! but as i have a red saxo will the bit underneath be red?? and if so will that look ok??
  17. #17
It will be whatever colour your car is underneath.

Sorry, old (ish) thread. Would white spirit work instead a glue remover?

    Yeah,

Also a note that it only looks good when you remove them on black cars

    removed from a silver car

lighter fluid works well in removing glue and all that shit

i actually do this for a living working for a sign and graphic company. best way of applying vinyl stickers is to not use soapy water or glass cleaner because it doesnt stick properly just use a cleaner called methadated spirits u can find it anywhere give the window or what ever u are applying to, peel the backing tape off and pull tight and press it on to the surface. sounds hard but it really is easy.

im still undecided whether i like without or not, was goin to do mine the other day but then had second thoughts :s what does everybody think? I have a maritius blue saxo so i think becos it is dark, it could look half decent.

boil the kettle then poor the hot water over it then peel away it comes off in 1 strip easy.. and repeate the process if its very sticky.
