Need to replace interior heater bulb....

Whilst im at it shall i spray the center consol the darker colour of the bottom half of my car or leave it black? Opinions?!?

Is it a rite pain in the arse to replace the heater display bulb? Im guessing the whole center consol has to come out.

I also really like the idea people have done with blue LEDs in this area... how did you do it?!?!

leave it black mate or do it charcoal grey like mine

tbh i wish i left mine black, gloss black can look quite good though

changing the bulb is easy really, take console out, dont even have to remove it from the car, just undo the 5 screws, pull the heater adjusters off, take the headunit out, and then unplug the heater bulb plug, twist the bulb and pull out

as for leds heres mine (console colour now changed)

and a diagram explaining how its wired up (ill get pics next time its out as i need to do my cig lihgter which i got today)

yeah mines done mate the second picture shows how its done, basically you need 5mm leds with resistors, you will need 6 blue and 2 red, there in packs of 20 so you wont mess up and can get them from ebay, ill guide you through it if you are going to do it

looks shit hot but im not great with electronics lol

Does it involve soldering? Where can i get these LED's? Thats a simple circuit id just need to fiddle with it i think.

yes involves soldering mate, i havent done much soldering in my life but its really simple, use the flux paste stuff on the wires and it basically puts the solder round on the wire itself, pretty east tbh

are you wanting to do the whole lot including dials etc??

Well that would look sweet, but im not buggering up my dials cos thats what i would end up doing lol

Was looking at buying those dials they sell with leds that you wire up but they seem pain in the arse aswell lol

could always get some plasma dials then do the console bit

id be more than happy to help you if you lived closer, so ill just have to do it by pictures and writing

tbh if you dont want to do the rest of the dials i wouldnt bother mate, also you have to make a clear dial face for heater part, stevenet15 did do them but has ran out of them so you will have to print them out on paper and overhead projector plastic sheets

yeh bit of a pain in the arse thou its well worth it i expect!

I just replaced the bulb was really easy! Just took the screws out and i had enough play to get to the bulb without taking head unit or anything out

All working now.... but will keep the ideas in mind for future mod cos it looks awsome.

it is worth it and you done have to do blue, could always do white, red, yellow, etc etc
