rear brakes locking up

  1. #1
    hi guys

I had to brake heavily the other night.

My rear brakes locked up, white smoke and a really loud screeching sound before i managed to stop.

Boyfriend thinks the brake balance adjustor needs adjusting?

Car is a mk2 forte. Is at the standard ride height.

I will rep if anyone can help me out!

standard ride height is terrible for that, ight be worth getting the brakes bled and like said could even be the brake bia

a remember mine doing it at standard height, its part of owning a saxo

Is it easy to adjust then? or is it a garage job?
  4. #4
tbh id rather take it to the garage, if you can bleed the breakes first

the rear valve could just need free-ing up by greasing it as the same thing happened to me

i have plenty of rep, im just a whore now

my does the same but thats due to having a million times better brakes on the back than the front at the moment

    Brake adjuster is fucked.

Get the Haynes out and try greasing it. Maybe it's just hammered anyway though

get a can of wd40 and a big screwdriver and keep levering and spraying it until it frees up, its the thing sat on the rear axle with 2 brake lines going in from down the car and 2 coming out, with a spring adjuster on it too incase any1 didnt know.

and for any1 wanting 1 if theres is buggered ive got a free working 1 for sale for a tenner

as i said before free-ing up the brake valve thingy should work but i never had any smoke coming out of my car. have you got it checked out from a garage yet?
