i know your all goona say cams but for the money i have whas best??

    any help greatly recieved
  2. #2
    i would go for cams.lol
  3. #3
Yeah im in the same situation and im gonna go cams myself, I reckon its the best option.Whats p+p throttle body?Got it now doessnt matter, does it make aany difference?

    cams mate
What brakes and suspension do you have
  5. #5
First of all, are you happy with the cars performance?

Are you happy with the car on the drives?

Depending on what you answer to them two question depends on what you spend the money on. If your not happy with the performance of your car will cams improve it enough? Throttle bodies would be another option Im not sure what you would get for your budget.

But Ive gone as far as you 'Airfilter, manifolf, sports cat, cat back exhaust, lowered etc' the normal but I personally Im happy with the cars overall performance and dont see it being worth throwing anymore money at the engine in search of more horse power. Different people will say different things.

Try and find somebody in your local regional area with a cam'd S and ask them to take you out it it and see if you think the extra performance is worth the extra money as only you can answer that question

would idealy like to go out in a cammed vts to see the difference,id like 4 pot brakes aswell, what would be best, ported and polished gas folwed head or the 4 pot big brake conversion?
  7. #7
prob can afford cams, remap and larger brakes for 2k.
  8. #8
Cams, remap, Recon Box with 1.4xsi final drive and a Quaife Diff = AMAZING CAR for track and road use

    Thats what i'd do personaly.
  9. #9
Any cash left - gti-6 calipers and mintex pads. We'll be plenty stoping power for you.

    Quaife diff - £700 fitted

    Hi Spec Brakes £700 fitted

PROPER FUCKING DAMPERS (billi sports?) and some decent springs (H and R? Customs?) £600 fitted

You can probably save enough overall to get the car properly bushed as well.

    Much faster than cams

leave the car as it is go out and get pissed loads with your mates thats what id do

campdavid i agree with you totally mate, where did you get the above prices for the diff, brakes and suspension as i do need the suspension doing as im sitting to low at the minute
  14. #14
shop around for the parts, Diff is about £550 from Quaife, maybe cheaper through forums and then it's a case of getting the box out and rebuilt.

Suspension, again, shop around, Kam-Racing are very good for springs and bushes and maybe able to sort the whole lot out.

Hi Specs are cheap from GS Motorsport at the moment

love the sound of the plans i reckon the above sound good, but all depends as said on what your looking for
  16. #16
Alternatively, wait a couple of months and part ex yours against mine. It has all of the above (except the diff) and a lot more, inc cams etc. Just need to get the ECU re-alligned, carbon bonnet on and an ABS sensor replaced

These seem pretty good last time I checked for 4 pot's

Willwoods are good, but no dust seals so you need to keep an eye on them

I like both, but Hi specs are easier to live with
  19. #19
Can you not fit your own dust seals?
  20. #20
    Not sure.

I can't see how dust seals could be retro fitted. Maybe possible. Thing is, they're only £150 cheaper and don't include pads, which will be £70 on there own roughly. Kind of may as well go for the specs!
  21. #21
Ah didn't know that! Fair enough.

Didn't realise his suspension wasn't to hot. You wanna sort your set up before anything else IMO.

sound lads for the advice,my heads all over the place now.lol.gotta have a think of whats best to keep up with them 205 mi16.lol
  23. #23
Well you can improve breaking power without spending loads on 4pots, the 206GTi 180 setup is very good I hear also Ive seen 406 Items being used.

As for Head work if your going that far Id say keep going and have throttle bodies but again tuning can turn into a money pit with one thing leading to another.

If it was my money Id really try and get somebody with a cam'd S to take me out and weigh up the cost against the gains from there.

Put a request in the WM section as there must be at least one cam'd 16v owner in your area.

If you are not 110% conviced that its worth the money weigh up how happy you are with the car, what captial you have tied up in the car at present and what that extra £2k could add to top of the value of the car and see what other cars are out in your price range

I'm in birmingham a lot, I could take hijm out, though give me about a month to get the ECU sorted and the manifold exhaust back on after the MOT
  25. #25
dont know if i can wait a month to make my decision!il still come out for a blast in your vts tho campdavid.lol. do you know anyone in brum thats got a cammed vts iv posted in the reginal section with no reply!!
