Legal pressed plates

-
#2Dubmeister do them. So long as they are properly spaced and dont have a Germany/France flag (not sure if that makes them illegal) they should be fine.
-
#3Got mine from Dubmeister £36 inc postage.
Got the plain ones with normal UK font to legally theyre spot on
-
#4If your car is registered before 2001 and the plates you get are european standard they are legal..
-
#5Pressed plates are not legal in the UK. At all!
You will get away with having legally spaced ones most of the time but if you get pulled by a pedantic copper you have a £30 fine on your hands!
You would also need to change them come MOT time for reflective plates -
#7The pressed plates are reflective. Well mine were. Wasnt legal as i found out other day when police pulled me for them mind lol.
-
#9Whatever you do dont do this as its slightly ilegal

I havent been pulled yet, but Im sure I will at some point but I always carry my standard items around with me, so its luck of the draw really.
I got mine from www.craigsplates.com think they where closer to £40 all in so abit more than Dubmaster.
I got pull twice for these babies

They where Bike size and made the car look bigger than it was which was the look I was going for at the time, loads of people dont like funny plates but as long as the letters are clear (regardless of how small they are) I dont mind them
-
#10Damo just passed an mot with pressed french plates with the "F" logo on them. As long as they are in par with european legislation they are legal. Also, the ones from Dubmeister are reflective
-
#11My ones from www.craigsplates.com have small reflective inserts inside the plate but I'll replace my standards for Mr MoT

I was gona mention about Damo but I really think alot depends on the Tester still now that all the heat has died down now that the new style MoT has been about for awhile -
#12Dammit, shouldnt have re-read this thread the day before an MOT!
Ive got these:

Pressed plates, no banding, standard UK font...
mmm..
Will it pass?! Fingers crossed -
#13Any idea where/how to get Sax-P ones and whether they're legal?
-
#14I am really confused. Thought the ones with the france flag and uk lettering was ok. So none off them are legal then
-

#16Oh no not this again

#17If they are European standard and are on a car registered before 2001 they ARE legal..I have been pulled many times and not once have they noticed my plates and they are identical to real french plates with the F band and in the french font..
I think mine are european standard as i have compared real french plates on cars in france to mine and mine have the same markings etc for european legislation..
Damo emailed the DVLA a while ago and they said they are legal on cars registered before 2001.. -
#18The best, 110%, rock solid, fail proof way of finding out is . . .
Talk to a MoT station
Most people use the same station or tester year after year, so go and have word with tem and see what they say, Damo's pasted with French Plates but I reckon that was more down to the tester than the Plates. Some testers know that as soon as they car gets outside after the pass your gona change it all back to how it was anyway so have a word and they may let it go IF you can prove that you have standard items IN the car just incase.
If its nothing thats Unsafe or Dangerous most places probally wouldnt mind leting a set of slightly ify plates go through, but dont take that for granted and put a car in with french plates without first checking! -

Although they say on the site they are for "show" only, they are made with all the same materials and processes as real french plates so are upto the standard.

The best, 110%, rock solid, fail proof way of finding out is . . . Talk to a MoT station - So how do you explain tinted windows? They're not checked as part of the MOT but the police can ask for them to be removed.
Damo's pasted with French Plates but I reckon that was more down to the tester than the Plates - The plates either pass or fail. Nothing to do with the tester. The car was passed at Citroen, not some back street garage.
Some testers know that as soon as they car gets outside after the pass your gona change it all back to how it was anyway so have a word and they may let it go IF you can prove that you have standard items IN the car just incase. - So you could pass with a de-cat but with them knowing you have the cat. system in your car "just incase"?
You either pass or fail your MOT. When you pass the MOT, the car is road legal there and then. As soon as it leaves the testing centre, the car could be deemed illegal. This is also the case if and when you're involved in an accident, you then get rid of the car yourself (i.e. calling up a recovery truck and having it removed) that the police will ask if the car was roadworthy to which you'll turn round and say "Yes, it has an MOT". They'd then reply... "Yes, it may have been roadworthy when it was in for its MOT but was it roadworthy just before you had the accident?" -
