Carbon fibre or aluminium custom inlet???

  1. #1
I am going to custom make a plenum 4 my vts on throttle bodies, got a few questions 1st -

2 ways of doing it -
1 - Aluminium - bend & weld it at work
2 - Carbon Fibre - Cut & glue it together
    Which 1 would be best???

Also is it better with a lid on or off the box? I would prefer it off i think unless it would be a noticeable difference, then i would put it on.

    Thanks

nothing wrong with al. Carbon fibre will allow less heat soak and looks better. Horses for courses really, just make sure there is a big enough gap between bellmouth and plenum wall.

the gap between the bell mouth and plenum wall, what should that be?

Is this from the actual butterfly to the plenum wall? If not where?

    thanks

If youre running throttle bodies, it will be from the bellmouth, or edge of the throttle trumpet to the plenum wall. Have it as large as possible, because you can disrupt the inlet pulses if the wall is too close. Sit all the throttle bodies where youll want them then build the box to suit round about it.

    DCOE or SF?

id look around at a pre made box, at least yu know then its solid and works.

if you get it wrong you could cause the engine to loose performance.
