Pulling to the side during braking

  1. #1
Only noticed this recently as i havent had to brake hard for a loooong time, and now it happen i keep braking hard to try and fathom the problem.

It doesnt happen all the time but when I brake hardish the car wants to veer either left or right. from what i gather its seems to happen after I've just taken a corner.

    any suggestions?

I had the same problem, i replaced the front pads and discs, I also noticed my CV joint and the rubber gaiter had split so oil was on the discs and pads, but after replacing them it was fine.

1 other issue i have heard about is wheels being put on the wrong side, this caused my friends saxo to vibrate and pull to the left, after changing the wheels around the problem was sorted.

Also maybe tire pressure has something to do with it are they are ok?

Dose it pull to one side if your driving straight?
As it could be the tracking.

    fine in straight line dudes...

Feel almost as if one side is applying more pressure than the other.

Youv'e probably got a lazy front caliper thats not braking as hard as the other one, hence pulling it to the side, could be a bit of air in it, if you got do a high speed emergency stop like they are youll probably loose it

it might sounds stupid but it could be the camber of the road. try braking in a carpark where the road it level and see if it does it then mate

This happened on my car a while back. When you change the disks on a car, you got to use a "Micrometer" to check if the disk spins the same way all around while driving, otherwise when you brake it will veer a certain way.

If you have got a haynes manual it will say a certain number, take your wheel off and clamp the mircometer, make sure it can't move and is on a flat surface on and repeatedely spin the disk, and then check if the reading is correct as to what it says in the haynes manual.

    haha
just had a new tyre on the drivers front, and its pulling to the left when i let go. whether i brake or not. turns right all by itslef when in reverse too

when steering wheel relaxes it is turned left. and when i hold the wheel staight, and the road camber changes, the car shifts left as if the wind was pushing the car! ???????
