just a quick question, iv seen a dastekk unichip for a saxo mk1 vts turbo, will it fit my vtr mk1 or will i have to but a new wiring harness aswell? i no it need mapping and installing but does anyone recommend them as im only running an mf2 at the moment.

#2I would imagine it would be ok, but a lot of people say not to buy them 2nd hand.

#4i wouldnt bother mate, you wanna be going standolone
ps there cheap new its the mapping that costs but there a waste of time really especially with a turbo -
#5whys that ive been running my vtr turbo engine on a unichip for 4 years and never had a problem, standalone is better (just swapped mine to DTA but only cos i need some functions the daztek does not have ie ALS)Quote:ps there cheap new its the mapping that costs but there a waste of time really especially with a turbo
also ive fitted second hand unichips to cars befroe and just remapped them, we took a unichip from a 1.4 saxo turbo and fitted it to our 306 rallye before that went to DTA and that was fine
you can get new looms from daztek for about £10 -
#6news to me bud, didnt think they had the capabilities

#7Have you got the software to remap unichips?Quote:whys that ive been running my vtr turbo engine on a unichip for 4 years and never had a problem, standalone is better (just swapped mine to DTA but only cos i need some functions the daztek does not have ie ALS)

obviously its not as good as a standalone but its been fine for years, you do neeed the daztek map sensor fo it though, the reason i like it over MF2 is that you can use 4 bigger injectors instead of the cowboy 5th and 6th inj, as 4 bigger inj give an even fuel distrabution unlike extra inj
TURBO_DAVE no i dont have the software dor the unichip we send our cars away for mapping -
#9Ahhh booger

Can't find anyone that will part with it. I found one guy who was closing down as a dealer and would let me have it but wanted me to buy up all his stock of Unichips to get it

#10I am running a dastek in my 1.1 turbo aswell, like martin says the ability to run 4 bigger injectors right off made it mor eappealing than using the 5th and 6th injector setups most use with mf2.
-
#111.1 turbo?? is there any point??
-
#12ah cool, nice pic aswell

what about cost effectiveness from one way to the other? -
#13considering it has cost less than a grand to do all mapped up yeah pretty much, beauty of this is once I kill this engine or power is still to low can easily stick any bigger 8v mpi tu in, lower c/r again and get it re-mapped.
May think why not just stick the bigger one in anyway to start with, well original 1.4 engine had done 130k, 1.1mpi engine in the shed done 18k and was free. Plus engines are cheap enough now anyways lol
I'd say dastek is more cost effective, you are starting with 4 bigger injectors anyway, only have to get one thing setup. Not overly familiar with the MF2 stuff but you have to use sigcon aswell don't you? -
#14so when does a dastek become less effective. i take it you can only run one on basic turbo conversion?
-
#15best ask tweeqd dude, i think it is when your spec becomes bigger with the need of water injection, als etc
-
#16because the dastek cant use just any size injectors it is limited (as it has to confuse the standard ECU to think they are ok etc) dastek also did an extra injector module (what the mf2 does) which was out well before the mf2 was. the Dastek is fine if going for low boost setup the only disadvantage is it cannot do everthing (knock control etc) and has to be mapped by someone, where as mf2 you can map yourself and its easy to setup.

#17as ratty says ive only gone for DTA cos (were dealers and i get them cheap lol) im running an S1 inlet with much bigger injectors and 30psi of boost, and i want knock, lamda and antilag.
the daztec worked well at 16psi and never gave a problem but i need more functions and want to ditch all the ax gti inlet system
