Lowering Suspension by 55mm- Advice needed

Right, I have my suspension kit and a very good mate of mine thats going to fit it. We haD a go once before but I need to renew the drivers side antiroll bar link as we couldnt get the nut off. So we decided to wait, buy a pair of new ones in case we had the same prob on the other side, and then cut the old ones off- so much easier!

Any way, after getting the wheel off and giving up on the roll bar links, we turned our attention to the rest of the suspension to see what was envolved. We noticed that under the rubber tubing was some kind of threaded screw cap which holds in the front inserts.

My kit is a 55mm lowering kit but it only come with the front inserts. Ive been to Citroen and they told me that there is a tool but he'd never actually seen one lol. I couldnt help but laugh at him when he said this.

How can i unscrew this cap to get the insert out? It feels a little tight for brute force.

    HEEEEELP!

There is 3 little holes around the outside of it..

Do what i did and get a flat bladed screw driver and a hammer and put the screwdriver into one of the holes and tap it with the hammer the right way and it will undo..

Then do the same thing to tighten the new one up again..

If you get what i mean!

Yea thats right. Its got 3 holes in the top towards the sides. Bash it- Thats what the guy at citroen said lol

Thought Id try and get the right tool for the job. Everyone has heard that there is one but they seem non-existant.

So if I do it this way I'll have to replace them yea?

Your new inserts should have them..

    You wont damage them anyway..

I took mine to a garage and they wanted £30 to hit em with a hammer and screwdriver like i did!

    LOL

Oh yea they have got new ones actually. I forgot about them lol.

I rang up artech and they wanted sumfing like £300 to fit the kit depending on how they adjusted the rear torsion bars. I spoke to my mates who did a 3 year apprentice at Audi and he said he fit for £50. Cant complain at that.

Hammer, brute force, and ignorance it is then lol

Better off, as James said with a hammer and punch - Not a screwdriver!

if all else fails you'll usually get by with either a hammer or an anglegrinder.

best to try the hammer first!!
