#2my cat had a sensor in it, I just unplugged the sensor and ran the new "decat" section.
No problems as of yet,
your engine management light will come on eventually though. -
#3you may need to buy a second lamba sensor sleeve for it mate, GMC sell them iirc!
-
#4i just unplugged the sensor. *shrugs*
-
#5fueling will be all over the shop without it though! hense the reason for the engine management light coming on, as a result of this emissions will be fucked too!
-
#6I drove 600 miles before my light came on.
Im still getting the same fuel economy
and emissions are always gonna be higher without a cat. -
#7how and where would i need to go to have a second lamba sensor fitted and how much would it be costing roughly?
-
#8all you do polan is unscrew the sensor in your cat, and screw it into a sleeve, then cable tie the sensor in the sleeve out the way.
That sleeve is 25 quid delivered from GMC. -
#9well your car must be special then!

does the fact, your engine warning light is on, not show you that the car is having problems
-
#10Not exactly...Quote:fueling will be all over the shop without it though! hense the reason for the engine management light coming on, as a result of this emissions will be fucked too!
The 2nd lambda sensor is ONLY used to take reading of the O2 levels and it's only use is to report on how healthy the CAT is as a result. This sensor does not make any adjustments to the car's fuelling whatsoever. -
#11Thanks for clearing that up Toad.
thought it had the same purpose as the pre cat sensor, but it took readings for the fuel after passing through the cat! -
#12You're welcome

No, slightly different purposes. The 1st sensor in the manifold is more important with regard to performance. It has the ability to tell the ECU to adjust the fuelling to what it thinks it should be, however, it can only adjust a specific amount, which IIRC is quite small, but still enough to fail an MOT or make the car run poorly in low revs. I don't think it plays any part above 3000rpm though.
