SAT NAV advice needed...

  1. #1
    Heya guys and girls...

Satnav is something i know very little about... so im in need of your help!

Looking for a cheap satnav... with the following features:
Full 7/8 digit UK postcode search, doesnt keep dropping it's satellite reception, voice instructions, touch screen or easy to use and possibly speed camera locations... but they aren't essential..

Wondered if any of you could let me know what you have... have you had any problems with it? how much was it? where did you get it from?

Or does anyone have any recommendations? i have been looking at this Navman F20, it seems well priced at £128.98.. and has most of the functions im looking for

Anyone got one? are they any good?

Rep awarded to anyone that is helpful...

    Cheers,
    Alex

My grandad had a nav man, it was rubbish. The satelite signal was always near to nothing. He now has an rac one, which was only around 120quid its a really good bit of kit too

Mmm i had a feeling it might be like that... thankyou for the heads up has he got that exact navman model?

My dad has a garmin palm pilot with satnav built in.. which is quite frankly awful.. you may aswell just have a tape that says 'lost satellite reception' on repeat....

i have the tomtom one uk edition and its great. easy to use and personalise. changable voices, postcode/address/city-centre/point of interest search facility. picks up sat signal quickly even in built up areas. spare parts (another stand etc are expensive though from the tomtom website. cheaper to find them elsewhere, halfords etc...)

road angel with nav, i have it, alerts for safety cameras blackspots etc all that a normal road angel would and also has navigation and a memory card which you can play tunes through,
imo road angels the best for useability etc ive came across

ive got a garmin sat nav in the works van and its excellent. never had any bother with it. can`t remember the model but its not a touch screen. the newer version is tho. you can get the speed camera update for it to. im a service engineer and we go all over the place and never let us down yet. also if you buy one some off the satnavs only take you to the post code area. where is my garmin takes you door to door. we got it from halfords for 125quid. imo it was well worth it. i would recomend it to anyone. the garmin got better write ups than the like of tom tom. so my boss told us.

GF had a Navman from Halfords, the sales assistant said they are the best
    ones to go for.
The software on it messed up loads bud, another sales assistant then said
    the Navmans are rubbish!

She swapped it for a TomTom One and hasnt had any problems with it since.

Might just be a one off but just my input mate, keep the receipt!

The tomtom I was using today went off course hardcore but it was due to a
new strech of dual carriage way.
Said I was driving in a lake or river or something.

    Still rate them though!

i have a mio the basic and simple 7digit post code search poi etc. if you just want one to get you from a to b then its perfect for the price as i my self didnt really want to be spending that much.

Tom tom one, I bought it at xmas for 99 quid. never had any issues whatsoever. and that was at halfords so no doubt you'll pay less nowadays

I've recently got this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...115145&doy=6m7 The signal is always good and the instructions are clear and easy to understand.

Heres a little bit of advice.

If you go to Halfords and ask for a Sat Nav, they will say " The garmins are the best, everything else is crap "

I went in wanting a Tom Tom One and came out with a Garmin because my pressured me into buying it. Cunts.

    Anyway, do you know why????

If you look at Matt Neals BTCC Touring Car sponsered by Halfords, you will notice it has Garmin also writtin on the car. And when the Sales Assistent says Garmin are the best, its because they get a £5 bonus for every one they sell.

BTW get a Tom Tom One if you can afford it.

    speed camera detector

memory card to update maps etc

oh yewah its a sat nav too
