Do you need the orange reflector in the headlight for indication?

   Im just smoking my headlights and poped the orange indicator reflector bit out, looks 100times better with out it can i just leave it out and get chrome bulbs? or do i need to get a clear reflector bit first?

   i asked this at the MOT place mate and they said as long as the bulb flashes yellow or orange then the reflector isnt needed.
