Relocating battery to boot

  1. #1
Could i put the negative terminal of the battery to somewhere in the boot like you would earth an amp & then earth out all the 1s under the bonnet on the gearbox?

Or do i have to feed the negative through the car.

Same with the live, what is the best way?

    Thanks, ad

I've just ran i live from the original, earthed out the ones under the bonnet, and earthed the battery in the back and seems to work fine.

    what would i need 2 batterys 4??

I am not running anything different to what i would be if i left the battery under the bonnet, just moving it into the boot instead

lol really not with it today mate, thought you wanted it to run amps off

just a case of extending the live wire and earthing it in the boot

Really be interested to see the pic's of this once done as I would still like to relocate my battery to the boot, Im not very happy with wires so I was just gona talk to a ICE shop as they must install batteries like that all the time.

Be nice to see how you done it tho

Nice one, When I was thing about it the idea was to spread the weight slightly more evenly and maybe free up some space for a Cold Airbox setup.

You planing on doing the same?

You going for a standard battery, or one of the smaller Varley RedTop style batteries?

the main reason i am going to try this is to even out the weight as mine is stripped.

I have tb's and am going to custom make a box to get air from the scuttle area so wouldnt need it 4 a cold air box - good idea.

Not sure what i will use the area 4 though, maybe an oil breather or something. Any ideas of what i could use it 4?

Similar idea to what I want to do.

I was looking at relocating my battery to the passenger rear footwell so that the available space in the engine bay can be boxed off for a MASSIVE open air filter

Are there any recommendations for smaller, lighter (but just as efficient) batteries???

We run a small PowerVamp PV25, which is equivalent to a Varley RedTop 25.

This unit is enough to turn the car over when boiling hot at the end of a stage, and is small enough to be put under the dash, on its side where the air bag control used to be.

    yeh exactly like that!
What wire shall i run through the car?
would 4 gauge power cable that is used for amps be alright to use?

Cheers, other ideas are oil catch tank or . . . I cant think of anythink else apart from a cold air box there

Wouldnt you be better putting it to the rear of the car to even out the weight ratio?

Quite possibly but I have to consider the left/right balance as well, as I won't be carrying passengers
