266mm setup - disc's

  1. #1
at the minute i have the 266mm setup. this consists of mintex discs and pads. the disc's are solid but after some hammer the brakes start to fade.

could i put vented ones on?
if so would i need to change the pads aswell?

what brake fluid are you using and when was it last changed? I'd swap your fluid for some Castrol Super Dot 4

I always resist vented disks because they are a lot heavier than solid ones. I prefer to make everything cope with the higher temperatures. Some fast road spec pads would be on the car first.

What suspension have you got? standard?

    Solid discs?!

    You sure..?

Do they not have a gap up the middle..?

I think you mean cross drilled..?

they have no gap in the middle mate.

KAM - its a full APEX kit lowered 40mm, why you ask?
i thought it was DOT 5 fluid that was better?

If you are thinking about a brake caliper/disc change, I have set of good VTR calipers, Brembo drilled/grooved discs and Mintex m1144 pads sat in my garage looking for a new home.

I will even throw in a set of EBC greens as well.

    PM me if interested

On an earlier post you said that you were running solid disc's, so how can putting vented disc's on be classed as a down grade?

foggy was on about vtr calipers that are something like 247mm and i have 266mm so it would mean dopping the size of disc to what it was before

so can i just get vented disc's and put those on and still kepp the pads ive got on now? or do the full lot need to be changed?

When changing discs you need to replace pads aswell..
