Gear Knob (sorry!)

  1. #1
I know this has been covered many times but!

I have standard knob and gaiter and i've been tryin all day 2 remove the knob. I've pulled and pulled and hacksawed a lot of the rubber off the knob. Theres a hard black casing bit just below the actual knob and I've left that. How the hell does it come off. Should I be pulling this casing as well as the knob? It's really annoying now!

The black plastic casing should stay stuck to the gear lever...

Clutch in.. stick it in 4th... jump in the back and give it a HUGE tug....

    Mine came off really easily...

Put the gear in neutral, and twist the top clockwise while pulling it, should eventually unscrew. That's what I did but I had 2 put it back on.

just keep pulling it till it comes off

there should be a piece of white plastic on the top, its probably stuck inside the old knob. usually with replacement knobs u get some plastic covering that you wedge the knob on, along with some grub screw.
  35. #35
some saxos are screw on type knobs and some are just push on types
  36. #36
This could possibly be the gayest topic on this forum... Pull and screw worked for me fine
  37. #37
instead of starting a new thread, just wondered what gear knots you can fit on a vtr because i brought one and it didn't fit,
and also mine came off easy.
  38. #38
mine came off easily as well. and i was left with a black thing now white. the knob i brought was to small
  39. #39
standard vt one is the best i think, just match the handbrake with it and its sorted
