Front Fogs (1.5 D)

  1. #1
I done a search, but couldn't find anything covering this.

Will my 1997 1.5 XD have the wiring there for the front fogs behind the bumper, or not?

I have the VTR/S Indicator stalk so I have the switch for them, I am assuming that I may need to add a fuse/relay no doubt into the fuse box, but will the wiring be there for me to simply source a set from a VTR, cut out the bumper and "plug them in"?

If the wiring wont be there, how difficult would it be to wire in the set to the indicator stalk switch?

    Cheers

there is a plug in the bay for them mate but not sure what colour it is

best thing to do is to get a multimeter and see if you can find the righ plug by switching the ignition and fog switch on to see if you get a reading off it

haynes say the plug has a green wire and a yellow/green wire from it, hope that helps

No mate, you need to fog lamp kit from citroen, it comes with all the wiring and stuff for cars without foglamps. I have it and it's completely new wiring, it's not plugged into any existing thing, so I'd guess you can't just plug them in.

I have a plug next to my fan (see pic) looks like a purple connector, do you reckon this is it... and if its not, what the hell should it be plugged into

it could well be mate just use a multimeter on it, what wires are coming into the plug??

Green and brown wires looks like. Also, put a fuse in the fusebox and tried the multimeter, but either theres no power getting to it, it aint fog plug or i need a tutorial in using a meter

Have you made sure you have the fog lights turned on inside the car? otherwise there wouldn't be any power too them.. If they still dont work that plug may be there for an additional fan...

Don't the foglights split off the main headlight wiring loom?

Right, I've got the Fog Lamp kit infront of me...

You get 2 looms, a switch and the foglamps. Fog lamps connected by one of the looms (exterior) to the fuse box for power, and to ground. Then the other loom is for the interior, which connects to the new switch, power by the cig lighter, and to the exterior loom by a relay. That's the general gist. So nothing is already there I'm afraid.

It was I that installed the foglights first on a forte "i think"

The wiring is there as long as the bracketsa are there to mount them

All you need is 2 foglights and 1 foglight loom from citroen to connect to the plug in the engine bay

It is a green plug located on the passenger side near-ish to the battery

You have to drill a hole and put a grommit in tho get the foglight loom through tho to get to it easy tbh

Hold on ill get some pics

I forgot to mention I also bought a indicator from a VTR so i could wire the foglights into that rather than using a switch , not necessary but a lot neater, and safer probably.

    Cheeeeers

the fog lamp kit is around £125 i believe.

Seems strange to have a plug there that isn't used with the kit... I do have that plug though.

    certainly was you

the way you use a multimeter is that you have 2 prongs one to earth and one to put on the wire your testing, make sure its set on the right voltage, best way to test if its working ok is on your battery posts

then turn the ignition on, have somebody turn the fog switch on and off, if its the right wire the voltage will show around 12 volts on the meter/screen

get him to turn the fogs off and the voltage will drop back down to zero

pretty simple and a very handy piece of equiptment

I think it was an optional extra in the borchure having front fogs because my friends forte has them and hes had it from new :s

So they just left the mounting brackets and half the wiring in there for the Citroen mechanics to whack them in fast I suspose!
