Oil filter and putting cat back on

  1. #1
On tuesday my car is due to go into the garage to have the manifold/cat put back on so that it can go for its MOT on wednesday, but whilst i was talking to the mechanic i told him only the mainfold and cat needs to be put back into place but he also thinks i need to put the old oil filter back on, which means more work...more money which i dont want to pay for if its unnessicery.

Could someone just clarify for me if i can keep the mk1 filter on and have my manifold/cat put back on with out it fouling anything up?

    Thank you

Yours being a mark 2 means you will need to put the original oil filter back on im afraid mate, as the manifold will foul the oil filter. One of the cons of getting a mark 1 performance manifold

Yea well im looking at getting a GMC 4-1 manifold, but Im only parttime atm. Meaning that I will prob get it around xmas, but ill probably wait till my MOT is due, so I get the whole year hassle free. How did you get the manifold fitted originally?

you can get them from Cituning, but for the m2 there like 400-600quid!!
Which for the performace gained isn't worth it

If using a mk1 manifold on an mk2 is it not easier just to buy an mk1 cat to fit for mot time rather than taking everything back off?

Thats not a bad idea mate. Does anyone know if this is possible to do on a mk2?

not sure m8 worth ago i aint tried it. I have no cat on mine and no cat 2 go on it but i am mechanic and work at mot station so a blind eye is turned. But have you yried it on the emissions pc cause mine aint 2 far from passing and it has no cat on

As long as your exhaust has a small section of pipe after the manifold you should be able to take it off and put an mk1 cat there. I have a magnex and it has a decat pipe in order to join the manifold and centre section, so in theory a cat should fit in.

If you want to put a Mk1 Cat in then you will have to buy a Mk1 Center pipe aswell cos the MK2 ones are longer due to them goin all the wat to the Manifold downpipe

Yep the Janspeed Manifold comes with a Sports cat......This is the price from Janspeed themselfs i thought id contact them to find out the price and to all let you no

So its either a Janspeed mani with sports cat for £349

    Or

Cituning mani with sports cat £425?

Well there both good yeh but i still rather pay for a Supersprint 4-2-1 cos i can dodge emmissions come MOT time due to work mate knowing a MOT tester
