VTR 1 timing

   we have a VTR 1 engine (i think thats what it is, 96 1.1 saxo, the blacktop one). the car seems to have knackered itself and its definatly the timing. we took the belt off and the tensioner was in about 15 parts. we have the relevant parts to fix it but have no idea about the base settings timing marks etc. i can see a notch on the crank but thats all, no corresponding mark on the block. whats the story?

   well its a saxo with a 1.1 engine from 96 and looks like the pic in the sticky.

   it will be a 1.1 then unless its had an engine conversion, they both use the same rocker covers. due to being 8v heads.

   yeah right so i'm a newbie, thanks for clearing that up for me. so back to the timing issue.
