Running problem with my VTR

  1. #1
Usually solved my own problems but now im really stumped witht he car..
Personally I think its to do with fuelling/injection but give me some more ideas please fellas..

Basically it starts up but hasnt been starting as well as usual, although the main problem is that it is spluttering when you try and accelerate, sometimes for the first couple of minutes it drives fine although feels as if it is accelerating slowly for example yesterday in third gear i could even make 6k rpm, got to about 4500 slowly and didnt want to accelerate further..then began to splutter and sound like it was only on two cylinders..
I have tried loads of things including coil pack and fuel pump..took my pump out and then put one froma 1.1 in but it still did exactly the same..then found another today at the scrappy with the same code as on a mates vts, put it in and its worse...
    ANy ideas?

Have you had any work done recently.

When I had my clutch replaced by a garage, my car was having these sorts of symptoms. then in the morning it wouldnt start at all. the AA guy said it was my main earth cable and he just tightened it up and off I went.

    Hope this helps...

try changing the spark plugs m8. if u already have, try themwith the spark plug hangin to see if u get a spark in each of them. coz u might have a faulty sparkler.

It starts, idle not perfect but dont think thats to do with it, shall check the earth cable but doubt it will be that simple.
I have a coil pack rather than leads, will check the spark on them tho. Only put new bosch super 4 plugs in not long ago, have changed the coil pack too and still does the same.
Im thinking possibly an injector fault?
    Thanks

Anyone reckon it is an injector fault?

Are there any uprated injectors that will fit my vtr?

    Any ideas?

    Could it be the injectors?
    Maybe cranksahft sensor?

could be a few things mate

    battery
    spark plugs
    coilpack
    headgasket, get a compression test
    injectors like you said
    fuelling problem, pump or filter

you had it on a engine diagnostics ??

sounds alot like injectors. i dont know too much about them though, is your engine warning light on?

does ur car cut out?i had a similar problem wi my car, my car would go to about 60m/h then stop accelerating. did a diagnostic on it and no fault codes were recorded, i cleanded crank n it has been fine. could also be a head gaskey fault. check colour of coolant, if it is a rusty brown colour this can idicate a dodgy head gasket.

have you checked your air filter? maybe something simple like a dirty filter!

timing could be out. vernier pulleys? may of spun

Thanks everyone for your help. Still not yet sorted, Daveo -did your car acclelerate really slowly too? and sound a bit like it was running on 2 cylinders when it began to die? I think it may be the crankshaft sensor too, ordered one saturday!

Lavo - Have thought about timing but its all fine bottom end, pretty certain its not timing, at least i hope not!
S34MER - Cheers mate, tried that! Always keep the Viper clean anyways, but cheers all the same fella!
