smoothing everything

has anyone smoothed the locks, handles and boot? my girlfriend wants to do it to her clio and get a clifford to run it all but people have said cliffords arent that reliable.

just wanted to know if anyone had poppers on the doors and what system you used, where you got it and how much

    thanks

i dont know if anyone has got poppers on this site mate but ive seen a saxo with poppers on, not sure on a price mate but apparentley poppers are hard to do on a saxo so ive heard from a very good body shop. would look good though so go for it.

I have always liked the idea of smooth doors and boots. I think it looks really mint, would look good on a little clio. The only thing that would worry me is if the battery goes flat, then it would mean smashing a window or breaking in, to get in. People do say you can install a back switch just in case it does go tits up.

    Nice little shaved saxo here.

you have to have door handles on the doors. not having a manual way to open it is an mot faliure.

so unless you have a hidden button somewhere on the outside to pop the doors, yes it is

wouldnt bother with the handles as its not worth it but boot and locks definately, no way to get in if you remove everything and it ruins to look imo

Im getting everything but the boot and hadles smoothed and bodyshopped

if its any help to you. i had smoothed off the handels and locks on my tigra when i had it and ran a toad alarm with the 4 bottom fob. used the two top big bottoms for arm and disarm the bottom ones where for opening the doors and if press and hold oth bottom ones and the boot opened. worked really well. i had also fitted a override key switch which was hidden somwhere on the car. your ok if you have spare fob also as back up.

i think that if they were smoothed before a certain year cant remember which then its legal btut a new law came in after that making it illegal? might be wrong but thats what i was told as the passenger door needs to be able to be opened from outside. so buttons under mirrors would be fine but not jus poppers on the fob??

    sounds good

i asked a place called http://www.autofashion.co.uk/modified_cars_index.htm for a price and asked about is it an mot failure, and he said no its not an mot failure as there is a special section for modified cars that dont require a manual handle. then he said i.e some tvr's dont have handles, they work fully off remote. but i did ask if i cldhave it wired up to my clifford with no popers (trying to save money lol)

Just for the record, regardless of what any test station tells you, you must have a way of entering the car by every door from the outside of the vehicle, mechanically or electrically.

My old Escort had the handles removed and I had my original central locking working and a pair of poppers under the door mirrors connected to solenoids in the door

cheers, she was going to get a clifford avantguard 5.5 but was going to cost about £1800 with poppers. a few people have said they've had problems with cliffords aswell, was the toad ok and how much did it cost? were the poppers done as part of it or purchase seperatly??
