BTB Exhaust

   From what ive read these exhausts are made for the higher bhp saxos eg cammed vts, boosted saxos etc
   
   Would i be able to put one on a vtr with just breathing mods and see a positive gain? or would the size of the exhaust bore affect my cars performance and make it worse?

   The main effect is the loss of backpressure due to the larger bore of the BTB system. Which in turn would result in a loss of overall power i think.

   in simple speak... it'll raise the the rpm where peak torque occurs (gives it a slightly racey feel)... but also lower the torque slightly too.
   
   Its not too much of a bad thing

   I disagree slightly. You whoop an exhaust that's completely wrong for your set up (I.e., this BTB) you performance will be hit hard. In fact, it wouldn't be a million miles different from driving with no exhuast at all, as this one will be too big, way too big.
   
   What Ad said is correct like, but I just think it would be a lot worse for performance than first assumed.

   On an otherwise standard engined Saxo I would look at a different exhaust / manifold.. Race spec I'd get a Citroen Sport one lol

   i think on a S with just breather mods it would be ok but with a R it would be a bit ofa loss.

   having had a BTB on a vtr with just a procomp i will say all the back pressure cimments to be rubbish by most people.
   
   The car drove alot better than a couple of other set ups ive run, and funiliy enough even had better fuel economy (we belive due to the 1st box not being a cat)
   
   but I only bought mine as ive got a 16v engine on tbs comming further along the line.
   
   you do know a BTB is rare as fuck to get now, as GMC stopped making them a while back, and so they either have sold all of the last batch or only a few are left.

   BTB is overkill for a VTR by a long way. a 2" exhaust is fine for a lazy 1.6 8v, so just get a scorpion or mongoose or whatever.
   
   If you want one, I know a guy selling one. Good condition - front pipe has had a small bash, which I tig repaired. Not a problem though as D-shape pipes dont affect flow that much. pm me if interested.

    Like before mentioned most of the leading off the shelf sports exhausts Magnex/Janspeed/Piper/Mongoose/Scorpion etc should be fine on either 16v or 8v with simple breathing mods probally upto uprated cams, anything over that and I would look to other prupose built items.
    
    Most exhausts are designed to improve the performance of a standard engine with maybe just an induction kit, some members have found certain exhaust restrictive once running cams but like all things on here Id take under personal recommendation from that person only.
    
    With exhaust I personaly tell people to look at them as styling items as much as performance items as most people either buy on Brand which may not be best for the car or by looks. Buy what you like the look of and then any gains will be a bonus.
    
    Unless you have very deep pockets and can fit a number of exhaust in a short time and test them one by one just buy what looks good as there might only be 1bhp or 2bhp between the best and the worse, manifolds will see the best gains to an exhaust system

    I gained 14 bhp with a Scorpion system. LOL, true story.
    
    I was using a custom Powerflop system when I fitted 708s and a Supersprint manifold. The car made 140 bhp after Wayne's remap! I then got rid of the 'flop' and put in the Scorpion system, back on the same rollers, made 154 bhp.
