Ive had my furio lowered 60mm on the front and supposedly 60 on the back but the rear is sitting really low.. the garage i took it too said that they only went down one spline on the rear but to me they must have gone down 2! can anyone tell me the height increments of each spline of the torsion bar?! cheers.

#2Splines is not an accurate way of lowering a saxo, 1 spline does not have a certain height, it's just luck. There is an accurate way to lower the car and there is a guide on here and a couple of other places. If lowering by splines you will usually have broken seals and so water will penetrate and your bearings will need replaced.

#3i got psx adjustables on the rear.. if i get the torsion bar raised it wont have a lower ride because of new shocks will it ?
-
#4you have yours just right, what have you done with yours dude?
-
#5as said splines is not the correct way of doing it
heres a guide to do it, click the link and then go to technical

#6I would take it back and get them to lower your car properly at the rear m8, it can be adjusted to any hight you want.

#7so the mechanic who has done my cars in the past has been doing it wrong?!
shall i get my torsion bar back to how it was ? with my psx will i still get stiff/soft ride ?
-
#8do you think he will know how to do it properly or would i have to take it to someone who has been dealing with saxo's alot? sonfused
-
#9Yes he is doing it very wrong, get them to set it how it was and to do it the correct way.

Do a search there are many threads about this

#10i f**kin hate it when people bodge things.. i know i should learn and do it my self its just time off work and that.. im gonna have some words i think! how should i explain to him to do it, key words which i can tell him!?
-
#11Just advise him of the above as Sean's post on another thread, you car isnt going to be that safe as its not been done properlyQuote:tell the mechanic it's done by removing the splined section of the torsion bars then measuring the distance between 2 points ie top of brake disc and top of arch, then moving the arm up the desired amount ( if you want 40mm then move it 45mm to compensate for the suspension being off the ground). doing it by notches doesnt bend the axle or wreck the dampers, it can damage the axle bearings although some cars have had it done this way and been fine but it isnt exact and you may find one side sits slightly higher than the other.

#12ill take it in tomorrow, do you think he has done it the wrong way because it takes longer to do the correct way or that he just doesnt know how to do it the right way?! is it more complicated and harder the right way?!
-
#13dont think that it takes any longer to do. I watched them lower my old saxo by clicks (then i didnt know that was the incorrect way) and then watched my current saxo lowered the proper way and it didnt seem to of taken any longer. They only thing i can see taking longer is making sure that each side has been lowered the same amount.

#14thanks alot for that, ive had 3 of my cars lowered thinking it was the correct way.. ill go over tomorrow and see what he says! cheers dude!

#15Splines is inaccurate and can damage bearings easily. alk tothe blokes who did it see if they can sort i out for you seeming they did it the wrong way. If not get someone to check it over.
With the time thing then the correct way should be easier and quicker.
