F.A.O. Spax Adjustable Owners

Right basically ive got my shocks set on soft all round and when i push down on my front bumper, then shocks hardly bloody move.

So was just wondering if anyone else has there shocks set on soft and what kind of movement they've got when applying pressure to the front of the car??

I think i might be purchasing new front shocks soon.......

    Cheers

I used to have the front and rears set to half and that was soft enough.

Because I had people in the back a few times, having the shocks set to half was becoming a little bouncy for them so I turned them up to hard. Yes the ride is harder but the rear passengers no longer bounce... they just crunch

Just something to note... if you can't push the front/rear of your car down enough to see what you think should be a lot of movement then think again. If they were that soft, I'd say your shocks were fcuked

I've got mine on around the middle setting, and the front doesn't move much when pressing down on it, but the ride seems good so havn't changed it. I havn't tried with it completely on soft so can't comment. I can't imagine it's b a lot different tbh !

If they are quite new then I don't reckon they'd be much wrong with them!! Do you want new front shocks because the ride is too harsh ?

There isn't much of a noticeable difference when pushing down on the car but the difference should be in the ride when going over bumps in the road etc. Put it to hard and take it for a drive and then put it all the way to soft and you'll realise the difference.

the shocks resist velocity motions... so the shock regardless of setting wont really oppose the force you've applied.

I appreciate what your all saying, its just when it is set to hard, i understand its gonna be rough on the roads and when applying pressure to the front of the car the movement is gonna be minimal, but when there set on soft, theres fuck all movement, what im saying is theres no difference between soft and hard on my front shocks, whereas there is a big noticable difference on the rear dampers when set on either soft or hard.

as you're pushing down the resistance you are feeling is the force of the spring man... which why you cant feel a difference between hard or soft damper settings.

And the reason why i can feel the difference on the rear is because there dampers and not spring loaded shocks yeah?

    no idea! lol

i know some of the gas ones have a particular trait of loosely behaving like a spring.. although im not sure if they're available for road vehicles :s

Right ok then, im probably just being paranoid, theres probably nothing even wrong with them.

They probably are, like i say im probs just bein paranoid or summit.

Its just that when the rear dampers are set to soft, they are soft and i think im just trying to compare between the two, when i probably shudnt.

The front has a spring oposing the force as my sayer said and the rear only has the damper and the bumpstops to an extent depending on how much you are lowered.

If you took the dampers off and compare front to back by pushing them in there would be little to no difference.

as above because your front has the sping

This might be a stupid question but the garage that fitted my kit didn't give me the instructions back for adjusting the shocks. I know there are 28 settings, but to get these even do you turn the screw thing all the way back till it stops clicking and then turn it clockwise to set the stiffness?

    Yeah clockwise = Hard

    Anticlockwise = Soft

Its the same for the socket thing you get given for the front shocks.
