afternoon all,
I'm wondering if y'all could help but before I pose the question I need to state 3 things: I'm new to saxo ownership so dont have an encyclopaediac knowledge of Citroen part numbers, secondly, I'm not mechanically minded in the slightest and last (but by no means least) I'm a bit thick....
Took my baby in (post annual service) for new pads/discs etc and I'd asked the garage to chekc the gearbox as its begun to develop an alarming habit of "popping" out of gear after you've just changed up (usually with me its 2nd to third and when going into reverse) and I need to put more effort into changing gear (fine for me but its beginning to annoy the missus). All dealable with but a bit alarming when youre on a roundabout and you suddenly start slowing down!
When picking the car up I quizzed the garage and he replied that it seemed ok to him however it could be the gear linkage thats wearing down..... apparantly this happens all the time and I wasnt to worry as "its good for another 50k miles".
If I wanted to get the linkage changed it'd cost me £350 plus vat and have to be done at a main dealers.
admittedly I'm not an expert but there seems to be a whiff of bull$hit coming from what he said and I'm wondering if you lot out there could suggest an alternative.
