#2lol a corsa beat you, well sometimes there are sleeper racers. There cars are almost standard and all they do is the engine, you got the open pipercross induction mate cos i got one and it slows down my car, get a vts conversion mate first thats the best then start uprating cams etc
-
#3You never know what people have under the bonnet of their cars nowadays. I had a race with a nova the other day and it was dead even. He then pulled over and told me he had a 2.0 lump in it. He was very impressed with my vts haha
-
#4yh its hard to say what people have under there know lol jus wana make mine quicker
-
#5same happened to me but with an astra.
looked like a 1.6 was well old like a p reg.
turns out hes got a 2litre red top engine

#6can we quit the ghey texttalk, and the talking bollocks about racing on public roads? After reading some of the highly intelligent posts in this thread it's no wonder people think saxos are owned by knob heads
-
#7finally someone with a bit of intelligence!
LBD ftw! -
#8Thing with Vauxhalls is even the slightly sporty models are soo sutble you would think it was a low spec'd model.
If you are happy with the looks of the car and how it performs does it matter you got done by something else?
If you think the car is under performing then try and get the car on a rolling road to see whats going on while its on the move. Remember most VTR/S are getting on abit these days so more modern car might slight have a edge also Ive found with my S I can (if I want to) have most things froma standing start but I find that my cars not got the legs to even keep up with lower spec'd cars.
But I just drive my car to enjoy it regardless of what I can have or whats had me.
**EDIT**
When you say sports exhaust, what brand and what layout, again induction kit brand and type. I wouldnt bother looking to find the answer to beating other cars with a change of breathing mods ie exhausts and induction kits, read my BIG exhaust & Induction thread by clicking on the link under my signature. If you really are looking for the next step up in performance, either tuning the 8v with a Cam and remap or fitting a 16v lump is a start -
#9well my corsa would do you..16v boy you got a good point there....drive your car to enjoy it...not to beat others
-
#10All cars have a limit and is normally above most of peoples driving ablity hence so may VTR/S that are wrapped around trees and other cars.
If people except that their car has a limit they should keep within that limit and enjoy the car at that level whether it be standard or tuned/modded.
Also keep a relistic view of what you drive, dont expect a 10yr VTR to have a Fiesta ST150 or Cilo Sport 172/182 etc, if you want to race other cars learn what you can beat and avoid what you cant, personally I would recommend racing on public high roads anyway -
#11I dont know why people underestimate Corsa'a anyway..They may not be the best handling cars but they aren't slow..Also i bet it was a 2.0 litre redtop..
-
#15i hear ya can get a pug gti-6 engine to fit. i used to have one and nothing beat it, was very simlar to honda civic type r and the integra, imagin the power in a small car like a saxo. takes alot of work tho, or ya can buy one for 2 grand ish fully loaded. not bad to insure either as not many people have them. it was cheaper than my vts anyway.
-
#16surely you mean "I would not recommend racing on public high roads anyway".Quote:personally I would recommend racing on public high roads anyway
there are loads of street sleepers out there, especially in older model cars like novas and corsas, i know of at least 4 of my mates that have them at the moment lol
i didnt get my car to go out and try and dust everything, if i wanted to do that, i would have bourght an evo or a skyline.
i enjoy blasting my cars within the limits on quiet windy roads. or flying around the track.
if you wanted to make your car a bit faster, cam, manifold, de-cat, exhaust system, enclosed air filter and an ecu remap is a good set-up.
better of getting a vts engine and doing the same to that, then you need to be looking at throttle bodies, or forced induction after that.
then you may be dusted by a 2.0l turbo redtop corsa then. lol -
#17no i dnt wana dust everytink otherwose wuld have borught sometink else jus wana make it quicker but without the hassel of a engine swap u know wot i mean lol
-
#18get a remap if youve done exust and induction. remap shuld improve it i would gess.
