Mud flaps info please!

Could anyone tell me how to put my mudflaps on my VTS? I have just bought red sparco ones and was told the best way to do them is to rivet them on, is this right??

Also some pics of people's rides with them on would be much appreciated. I have a Silver VTS so any pics of a silver VTS with red flaps would be much appreciated!!

    Thanks peeps.

i guess you can just use self tappers to attach them to the lips of the arch's/rear bumper mate

my citroen ones are just clamped on but yours will be more universal, ask VTS_16V_BOY

    Thats me

Well, I used pop-rivits along the leading edge of the arch and rear bumper aswell as using a few attaching it to the inner plastic arch linning.

You could use self tapping screws if you liked, be warned that because of the inner lining is resested compared to the arch then the flap tends to have a funny curve to it you could proablly get away with trimming the flap so it was L-shaped and only fixed to the arch and rear bumper but I wasnt sure how that would work so I just fitted em as they where and trimmed as I went along.

Make sure you carefully mark them up as when you jack the car up and remove the wheel the angle of the car changes so its hard to get them lined up straight if you dont first mark the flaps while the car is level.

Again if you are putting the Sparco stickers on then Id put them on after once they are on the car so the stickers are straight and not wonky.

That was before I trimmed them closer to the bodywork.

This is how they sit at present, I trimmed the back closer to the back bumper and trimmed all four so they where straight and removed the sparco stickers.

They look abit funny because of the angles the pictures where taken, but they look better in real life

Id recommend that a second person helps so they can stand back and make sure they sit straight while you attach them to the car.

Its been pointed out that Rally cars only have flaps on the driven axel so i should only have them on the front, only 4x4 wouls have a full set but I like em so they stay

Hope thats of some help to you

Top man. Cheers for the info mate.

I shall be doing mine tonight and will follow your tips closely! Saw you at the Lakeside meet a couple months ago, nice car.

    Cheers

    Cheers

Get someone to hold the flaps in place while you check hight and positon, then mark with a felt tip pen. Then jack the car up and either screw or pop rivit. The backs will look really funny as standing straight on it will look like you have Red (in your case) or Blue (in my case) tyres if you dont trim them back enough

Remind me what colour you car is?

I went for Blue because my Seat is Blue and Yellow, there is a nice Mk6 Escort GTi at the bottom of the road where me and the missis is and thats Black with Red sparco flaps and looks great as he has a viper induction kit with the Red funnel mounted in his lower grill.

I called citroen yesterday but they said they didn't have any and I'd have a job finding them as they're slowly phasing out saxo stuff.

He also informed me that the mudflaps I was after woulden't fit on my car as I have 16's. Looking at my car now, I think he was right. I can only just get the sparco ones under!
  14. #14
Well I have 14's with 65 profile tyres and am down about 35mm-40mm there abouts and sometimes rub on the flaps when going down a dip or over a hump at speed

Thats why it may be best to cut the flaps in to a L shape and just afix the flap to the bumpers leading edge and the same at the from on the front arch.

As for 16's couldnt comment, sorry

I like the Factory look flaps on more standard looking cars but dont think they'd look right on mine.

    But each to their own

Dont get the ones wiht VTR/VTS on them, get the plain Citroen ones, the one's on ebay are good, a few local lads have them and they look smart.

God, nightmare stories coming up here lol!!

Think I may just leave mine off. My car's lowered and on 16's. I've put them up against the arch to see how they fit and there's hardly any room!!!

Ah well, back to the drawing board!

The only problems I have with my Mud Flaps is that, If you are reversing upwards, say up a slight curb they have on mine sometimes got caught under the rear wheels and bin ripped straight off the rear inner arch, but this is rarely, I just try not to go up any curbs.
