Looking at getting a vtr engine for my furio. its out of a 2001 y reg vtr. did these have a single plug ecu or a 3 plug ecu? i need a single plug one.

If i was to run this with a standalone ecu would it matter which engine i got?

    also would you trust this?

    cheers

this should help you with the ecu question:

as for the standalone - it is trust worthy but you have to consider fitting and setting up which could cost allot. it cost my mate over a grand for a standalone setup with mapping and fitting so very pricey and not worth it really unless you want to do something special to the engine

you would need to check mate.
if it has a cat on the manifold, its 3 plug, if it has a cat under the car its a single plug.

you can get any single plug ecu, have it unlocked and it would work with the engine no probs. you wouldnt need the keys, barrell, locks etc.
but being unlocked would mean you loose the immobiliser. so make sure you have an alarm.

go on to ssc, guy there sell complete engines from his breakersm he is a top dude and supplys top quality complete setup

its cool, i have an aftermarket alarm system.

so if i got a 1.4 tu engine out of a c2, and an unlocked single plug ecu, i could use it with the brand new engine??

sorry this subject really confuses the hell outta me

It shud be a 3 plug ECU on the 2001 modal cos thats when they started puttin the cats in the manifold and im sure its one of the first 98bhp versions
