Melted induction kit! OUCH

My green enclosed induction kit fell apart due to shocking bad quality. Not impressed. It only lasted 6 months.

So after that for short term before gtting something better we had to slap on a universal filter.

Look what happened when it touched the Lambda (spelling) sensor wire to the maifold, GOD KNOWS how but the induction kit started melting through the wiring!!! and fucking hell it sent the engine mad! undrivable.

Didnt know what it was at first. Till my BMC arrived, took of the universal and look at the damaged caused!

So the BMC is on and damn its fitted really well this time, very tight and stable and much better air feed clipped all the way under the radiator into the front bumper.

But how did that induction kit melt through wiring? shouldnt they be cold?

well, doesn't look like that filter was designed to be along side the manifold, if its similar to the K&N filter its got a metal gausing around the whole filter which conducts heat like feck if its next to a manifold

If its not touching anything it cools down as fast as it warmed and no harm done but if its touchin plastic wiring I could see how there could be problem

prolly got to that heat whilst u've been stationary, sittin at lights etc with the engine at high temp

thats a logical guess, I dont know exactly how u had it positioned

Yea something like that seems to be the answer! DOH

On the BMC, i got a bad feeling i put it in today the wrong way round cause the engine wont idle right, seems like it cant breathe and dies when you take photo of pedal...

    or that sound stupid?
