HELP!! Rear Spoiler Removal

  1. #1
I have a Mk1 VTR with a standard spoiler. I have just bought a devil horn spoiler which needs fitting. However, I can not remove the rear spoiler.

I think there is a nut and bolt either side underneath the grommets as I can feel what seems to be a nut. It is not a normal nut, but a nut like a cog. It may not even be a nut but I cannot remove it. I have try a spanner, long nose snips and a screwdriver. Its too bloody awkwardvand wont budge.

Has anyone removed or know how to remove it as im not sure if it has two bolts as well as bonded or just bonded by itself.

    Thanks

I think it depends on when it was fitted mate but it could be bolted or bonded on, or both. Might be easier to buy a new boot, sell the current one

    K cheers.

Cant reeally afford new boot and its been smoothed.

Do you know how to remove the bolts as it is so tricky and they dont seem to move?

only thing i can suggest is to spray it in WD40 and leave it for a while then see if they come off mate

    DONE IT!!!

I had to drill two holes in the boot, a little bit above the grommets on each side. I then had to slot the screw driver through the hole in order to unscrew the screw on each side.

After that I then used a scrapper with a cloth underneath to cut through the adhesive which bonded the spoiler to the roof.

Anyone ever get stuck then PM me
