car running like a dog

   started the vtr up today and it was misfiring like mad. sounded like it was only running on a couple of cylinders or not getting much fuel. it had a job to even keep the revs above 750 RPM.
   
   it stopped after i restarted the engine. engine management light has come on a couple of times recently shortly after the car stutters and loses power very momentarily when im accelerating.
   
   any ideas???

   do a compression check mate, will tell ya if your head gasket has gone or a valve.

   thanks for the advice....oh well it gives me an excuse to drive the GTA for a bit...
