Local Autowise has quoted me £350 to build a custom cat-back stainless system. Before it was £200 so when I asked why the increase, he said it was because they use Wolfrace exhausts now, which are the best out, and this dude has worked with the lot of them, powerflow, peco, piper etc. I've read the exhaust threads but haven't found much on the Wolfrace system- I thought they only did nice alloys! So is it worth paying 350 for a twin-box system on my otherwise stock VTS, and more importantly, is it really the cream of the crop? Thank you
Wolfrace Custom s/s catback- best out?

#2Never heard of them doing exhausts so don't know what they'll be like but to be honest, I'd stick to well known brands. Also, if it's custom you'll most likely lose power, Magnex and Piper etc spend a lot of money developing their systems to increase power whereas it's a hit or a miss with a custom one.
-
#3if you go custom go for a descent company not just a little privae one an thing. Your not going to get much power with any exhaust anyway.
-
#4never heard of wolfrace doing exhausts, i dont think there wheels are much cop so id say there exhausts will be just as bad, you can get much better systems for less money and will perform better that powerflow exhausts i mean poorflow

#5get a magnex

#6I have heard of Wolfrace doing exhaust but i think they have onyl started donig this very recently. Look at www.topgear.co.uk, they do wolfrace systems, you may find them cheaper, good for a price comparison or just general information.

#7Top Gear UK is where I was going to get it done mate! My local Autowise is a franchised Top Gear performance parts retailer and are serious that the Wolfrace is the real deal... but as you've all said I've never heard them doing exhausts so I had no idea whether to spend that much money on one. Btw Thanks everyone for your advice, I'm tempted by the custom element because for some odd reason my VTS seems very fussy with exhausts, my current original part is rattling even though a local garage could find nowt wrong with it, and when i replaced that with another original spec (but NOT Citroen) exhaust that knocked too, so I'm thinking a custom build might help me out if its done to the exact fitment..? £350 sounds alot but then I got quoted the same money to fit an original Citroen version which I think is ridiculous. I just want to stop the knocking to be honest, thought might as well go custom if its going to cost me a bomb.Quote:I have heard of Wolfrace doing exhaust but i think they have onyl started donig this very recently. Again thanks all for the advice

#8Was also looking at magnex mate, they seem very good but I think a custom-build might be the ultimate cure for my otherwise knocking set-up...? I really don't know why it does that, only 37k miles, no accidents or anything, garage can't find anything wrong with current one. They took it off and put it back on again, same problem.

#9magnex is about the best fit you can get. custom as said could is hit and miss, could lose you power.
now im being silly but you say your gonna have a wolfrace zorst so how can it be custom if thats what there gonna use? as said wheels are pretty poo aswell
-
#10doesn't sound custom to me either. Perhaps they have a 'standard' cat back with a choice of tailpipes or something.
-
#11Yup that confused me a little too! The guy said he was using unmoulded Wolfrace stainless materials direct from supplier, which he would cut and weld etc to exactly fit my car. Sounds unusual to me too, but I have had a cat-back fitted to my previous car before (Ford KA) from the same place and despite excessive popping, I found it to be a reasonably decent system, noticable power gain. Now he claims the wolfrace materials he uses are considerably better. Thiss garage fits on average 2-3 stainless systems a day. Does that description of the exhaust sound shifty? Should I just buy a Magnex system then and be safe?
No idea what to do lol...

#12IMO The quality of materials effects lifespan and weight. The design of the system effects the performance.

#13KamRacing and Bullit, thanks for the advice. KamRacing, I've just noticed your site and visited it- loads of great looking stuff on thereQuote:IMO The quality of materials effects lifespan and weight. The design of the system effects the performance.
I've seen the Supersprint centre pipe on there for £62. Exactly how good a fit is that? Would it be better to get that, and if so, which two boxes would best suit it? Again emphasis is on fitment here, I'm after a really tight, secure fit. How good are they..? Would it be cheaper to do a pick and mix with that and some boxes or just go get a Magnex full system?
Cheers -
#14I've never had a problem with the fit of the supersprint centre section.
Nothing in supersprints range of backboxes for the saxo that we like so we are getting them to make a nice light race backbox exclusively for us
AFAIK the magnex backbox doesn't fit straight on to the supersprint centre but some piper ones do. Haven't really had a car to experiment on to find out for sure -
#15-haha you can experiment on mine if you want, anything to rid me of my bloody knocking unit! The price seemed alright thats all, thought I might pull off a nice combo with that and some boxes, if only I actually had a clue about them and what fits what... I'm loving the fact that I can grab a 4-2-1 for under 150 also on there... as soon as I fix my catback I'll be hugely tempted!Quote:I've never had a problem with the fit of the supersprint centre section.

#17magnex are meant to be good

#18JoeFurio- so i'm hearing mate! Magnex seems to be favoured by many members on here, must be a pretty good system, although I did read somewhere that on some Ford model or other, a Magnex system was replaced by a rediculously pricey Milteck system but there was a good few Hp's increase with the Milteck on the rolling road. If only I could find that article...
K600RYS- MAgnex sounds good mate, thats what I'm feeling at the mo
-
#19Piper exhausts are another favourite on here, they are louder than the magnex tho. So just depends what you want, but i love my piper to bits its a great system.

#20Cheers bud i'll need to find out what i've got on it at the moment its a big loud one thats all i know hahaQuote:JoeFurio- so i'm hearing mate!
