Raceland Manifold for VTR...

  1. #1
i won't have to change anything on my engine bay to fit a raceland 4-2-1 manifold|for a mk1 vtr?
  2. #2
no because yours is the mk1 ,, mk2 has to move oil filter
  3. #3
just get new manifold studs and a gasket
  4. #4
....don't the manifold studs come with the manifold? and what the hell are gaskets!? lol and how much
  5. #5
nah you dont get nothing with the raceland mate, where are you getting it from exactly??

the studs and the gasket you can get from the dealer and wont cost you that much mate, there worth changing at the end of the day

the gasket is metal, will stop leaks in the system, if it isnt air tight then it will fail an mot (will anyway if you car has cat in manifold, as it decats the car), also it will cause very poor performance

I've got a exhaust system with no cat, the cat was on my exuasht at the bottom, near the gear box area. I've taken the cat off. Im planning to buy my gear from kam-racing, do i HAVE to get the studs and gasket to put the 4-2-1 on?

you dont have to but there cheap enough anyway mate, people say its best to change them, i will be doing it, the parts will come to about a tenner, as for decatting the car, hope you kept the cat as you will need it for mot time

Sorry to highjack this thread but kind of along the same lines... I'm getting a Raceland manny for my mk2 vtr. I know I'll need to put a cat on for mot time but would I also need to put the mk2 oil filter back on or will it pass with an mk1 oil filter?
  11. #11
will pass with the oil filter, makes no difference,
  12. #12
quick question people, ive got a pro-tech 4-2-1 manifold. do i need to do the same mods?
  13. #13
Nope yours is 1999 right? So it has the MK1 engine so it should fit straight on no messing.

You will need to put the mk2 oil filter back on as the standard mk2 manifold doesn't fit with an mk1 filter. Just found out last saturday as I swapped manifold for MOT and no clearance with mk1 filter, hence why the mk2 filter has a bracket which holds it to the side of where the mk1 goes.
