biggest spacers you can use with vts wheels?

  1. #1
as above. iv got a set of brembo 406 v6 calipers fitted to my vts but want to go with a set of vts alloys. i know im gonna need spacers but how big?

whats the biggest spacers you can use with vts?
  2. #2
Will they even fit inside the VTS rims anyway?

What's up with the OZs man?
  3. #3
they will fit under the 15 inches but its the width thats the problem!

nothing is wrong with the OZ's mate. just fancy a change buddi!

To hazard a guess mate, I would have thought 20mm would be cutting it quite close. You can always get the arches rolled...
  5. #5
    at what price though?
  6. #6
You can run spacers as big as you want mate, but its the fact that would you
want 30mm spacers plus on your car?

I would of thought anything bigger than a 15mm may push the wheel out too much
(due to the ET number on VTS wheels being correct as it is)

Getting a decent set of spacers is also expensive. I run 25mm spacers, but I
knew I would occasionally use the car on track.
I opted for H&R Trak+ ones that set me back £210 for 4:

You can't run any size Rush mate, as you would hit the arches when going over a bump.
  8. #8
there really cant be that much needed to clear the brembos can there? thoses alloys i got off you toad. they are well out the way!

Duh lol! My point was you have to research first and decide on a final offset.
My wheels are ET37, take the 25mm spacer away and Im running on ET12 which
is a little under the recommended Saxo/106 wheel spacing.

BUT I checked the arches beforehand and knew it would be fine, which it is!
  10. #10
im sure they would still clear the arched eith 15mm spacers and then they should clear the brembos too i think :s
  11. #11
I assume the VTS rims are ET15 (ish). 15mm spacer means an ET of 0?

Its a tough call mate, you might get a way with it? But will it be road legal
how much the rims stick out?
  12. #12
why would they be illegal? as long as they arnt dangerous then they should work i think!

20mm may be borderline but well see.
  13. #13
If the rim sticks out of the arch it will fail MOT if i remember right, think thats what rushy is getting at.

    Thats incorrect Cloud honey.

The wheel its self can stick out from the car as much as it wants (aslong as it has no sharp edges ofcourse) there is no actualy law against this, but the tread of the tyre has to be inline with the arch/car. Hence the style "stretched tyres" leaving the Rim sticking out, but the tread snug in the arch!

My wheels will be running a minus ofset, not sure what though. It was ET30 and I'm running 50mm spacers.

    Incorrect.

If the wheel protrudes it fails the MOT due to an exposed moving part

Whether this happens in practice is anyones guess...

Your also Incorrect, I've talked to my MOT tester, and there is no Test for it, if there was alot of old 4x4s would fail which they don't. I've read this on a DUB forum, and there is no law. A few people have been pulled up, but the police can't do anything due to this. This is also relevant to MOTs, there is no rulling stating the wheels arn't aloud to patrude, aslong as the tyre tread isn't the car will pass.

going for the vts wheels Dan now i see,

Another problem with big spacers is getting a decent set for reasonable money, i wouldnt want to be going on track thinking my wheels are going to fall off! Lol,
  19. #19
hubcentrics all the way mate! managed to source some stainless steel ones either 20mm or 15mm with longer wheel bolts. reasonable price too! its gonna be a VERY tight squeeze! but should look shit hot when its done. going for some anthracite grey vts alloys with a polished rim. may sort out some sort of citroen emblem for the centre of the wheels and blend them on before spraying. but of a small project lol.
  20. #20
Will be interesting to see where this goes.
  21. #21
right iv measured up and im buying some 20mm spacers. 15mm will be too small. with 20mm spacers there will be 3mm between the alloy spokes and the brembo calipers. so im detting 2.5mm machined off the spacers to make them 17.5mm spacers.

with these i will just touch the arches when the suspension compresses and the wheel sits under the arch. to avoid the wheel hitting the arch i have got to shave some plastic of the inside of the arch panel. it WILL work though.
  22. #22
Nice one Dan, will look ace once done im sure of it
  23. #23
Good research, that's saved me some time, as I'm looking to flare the rear rims out a tad. With regard to looks, I don't think the Brembo's will be that obvious, as there's not a lot of space to see them through the VTS rims.
  24. #24
not a lot of space no but the calipers are that big that you can allways see quite a bit of them through the spokes

got to be one of the 1st to do it too!
  25. #25
anyone want me to take any pics?
  26. #26
    Yeah, of course!
  27. #27
Yea man get some pics up. Good work on the research mate, good to see you
got it sorted (well hope so).

Cant see the calipers behind the rims Toad????

  28. #28
You know what I mean, you cheeky monkey.
  29. #29
Oh, dunno how i missed this thread.

Yeh i measured the brembos at about 17mm aswell and have 20mm spacers, never though about having anythin machined off them though. I havnt road tested it yet either
  30. #30
well all is done! gonna put a little thread up in the pics/vids section. will post up a link when its up chaps!
  31. #31
Awesome, cant wait to see how it looks
  32. #32
now up in the pics/vids section. lots of pics
